Peacock is making a big commitment to The Traitors.
Peacock, the streaming service owned by NBCUniversal, has commissioned two additional seasons of the series “The Traitors.” This brings the total number of seasons to five. The renewal is based on the success of season two, which received four Emmy nominations, including best reality competition program and outstanding host for a reality show for Alan Cumming. The third season was scheduled to premiere in early 2025, but with this decision, it appears that we might get a glimpse of “The Traitors” even before then.
The Show “Traitors” garnered significant attention due to its unique structure, where some participants play the role of “traitors” aiming to eliminate other contestants from the game. In its second season, it gained immense popularity and became the highest-watched unscripted streaming show in the U.S. during its premiere week in January. For five consecutive weeks, it secured a place among Nielsen’s top 10 rankings for original streaming shows.
The cast for season three, unveiled in June, includes Tom Sandoval, known for stirring up drama on Vanderpump Rules, along with Rob Mariano, a frequent participant on Survivor, several Real Housewives, Chrishell Stause from Selling Sunset, and Gabby Windey, who was previously the Bachelorette, among other well-known figures.
For seasons four and five, Cumming will be back as the host. He shared with The Hollywood Reporter that he’s taking on a character while hosting The Traitors, which marks his fifth Emmy nomination: “I give my all in The Traitors, just like I did on The Good Wife, and it’s this delicious role, much like what I’d do on stage or at the Tonys.”
The series titled “The Traitors” is modeled after a Dutch concept and manufactured by Studio Lambert, which is affiliated with All3 Media. Stephen Lambert, Mike Cotton, Sam Rees-Jones, Rosie Franks, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, and Cumming serve as the show’s executive producers.
