As a long-time fan who’s witnessed The Weeknd’s meteoric rise from Toronto’s underground scene to global stardom, I must say, this new collaboration with Playboi Carti is simply “timeless.” The duo’s synergy is undeniable, and their latest music video is a testament to that.
The Weeknd and Playboi Carti have just released a new music video for their collaboration track titled “Timeless.” This is their second team-up, following the 2023 release of “Popular” featuring Madonna. Their latest visual collaboration comes after The Weeknd unveiled the video for “Dancing in the Flames,” which he filmed entirely using an iPhone 16 Pro.
Under the direction of Gunner Stahl, The Weeknd and Carti reunite, setting the stage in an empty warehouse this time. Carti is depicted wearing an Allen Iverson football jersey turned backward, sporting his diamond-encrusted Opium chains, a do-rag, and a double-horned hat. Surrounding them are scantily-clad dancers adding to the atmosphere in what otherwise seems like a foreboding gathering. This track is the second single off The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow album, signifying the final chapter of his After Hours/Dawn FM trilogy. Fans have been vocalizing their appreciation for this duo on YouTube, with one commenting, “This pairing is 2/2 – we need more collaborations!
As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement over the long-awaited music video that just dropped! This sneak peek offers a tantalizing glimpse into what we can expect from The Weeknd’s upcoming sixth studio album. All week, there have been hints and whispers about this new release, and even better, I got a taste of it during one of his epic stadium concerts recently.
