As a dedicated fan of both fantasy and powerhouse performances, I am beyond thrilled to see the addition of Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo to The Wheel of Time cast. Her extensive resume, from House of Sand and Fog to her recent roles in The Flight Attendant and The Penguin, speaks volumes about her ability to bring depth and complexity to any role she takes on.
The Wheel of Time is bringing a key character from its source material to the screen.
The popular Prime Video series has brought on board Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo for its cast. In the third season of The Wheel of Time, set to release in March, Aghdashloo will portray Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, a significant character from Robert Jordan’s fantasy novels that form the basis for the series.
As a devoted fan, I’d describe Elaida as a formidably powerful Aes Sedai, equally skilled in political maneuvering as she is in channeling. She shares a profound history with Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Siuan (Sophie Okonedo), and harbors unresolved grudges against both upon her return to the White Tower. Elaida is an individual who prioritizes results, even if it means employing questionable methods, in her pursuit of what she perceives as the greater good.
Amazon’s Prime Video has revealed a sneak peek for season three, where Moiraine ominously warns that she has glimpsed countless futures. These visions suggest that either Moiraine or Rand al’Thor (played by Josha Stradowski), who might be destined to shape the future as the Dragon Reborn, will live on – yet tragically, not both of them may survive.
Actress Shohreh Aghdashloo has joined a cast that includes Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, Marcus Rutherford, Dónal Finn, Ceara Coveney, Kate Fleetwood, Natasha O’Keefe, Ayoola Smart, and Kae Alexander.
Sony Pictures Television, in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, are responsible for the production of “The Wheel of Time.” Rafe Judkins serves as the showrunner and executive produces alongside Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon from Iwot Productions, Ted Field from Radar Pictures, Mike Weber, Marigo Kehoe, Ciaran Donnelly, Justine Juel Gillmer, Dave Hill, and Pike.
Actress Shohreh Aghdashloo is transitioning from her recurring role in HBO’s series “The Penguin.” She garnered an Emmy award in 2009 for her work in HBO’s film “House of Saddam,” and was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in “House of Sand and Fog.” Her recent projects encompass roles in “The Flight Attendant” and providing voiceovers for “Archer” on Netflix, as well as appearances in “Damsel,” “Arcane,” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
