As a seasoned gamer and animation enthusiast with a soft spot for heartwarming stories and innovative visuals, I can hardly contain my excitement about DreamWorks Animation’s “The Wild Robot” coming to Peacock on January 24th! With its impressive critical acclaim, boasting a near-perfect score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and grossing over $320 million worldwide, this film promises an emotional journey that’ll tug at the heartstrings while dazzling the eyes.
Having grown up with the likes of Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, I can only imagine Chris Sanders’ masterful touch on this latest creation. As a fan of quieter, more intimate moments in storytelling, I’m confident that The Wild Robot will deliver a profound emotional depth that resonates with audiences.
The stellar cast, including Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, and Mark Hamill, to name a few, further cements my anticipation for this film. And let’s be real – who doesn’t love a good fox, possum, goose, robot, bear, beaver, or falcon?
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to clear some space on my Peacock queue – looks like I have some pre-January 24th binge-watching to do! Oh, and just a little joke for good measure: Why don’t robots play hide and seek? Because they can’t hide and you always know when they’re seeking… the truth!
DreamWorks Animation’s much praised movie “The Wild Robot” is set to debut on Peacock towards the end of this month. This film, which has just been nominated for three Golden Globes, will become available for streaming only on the NBCUniversal platform starting January 24th (Friday). Currently, it boasts an impressive 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes and has earned over $320 million globally.
The book “The Wild Robot” was adapted for screenplay and direction by Chris Sanders, a notable creative figure known for his work on the “Lilo & Stitch” and “How to Train Your Dragon” series. This adaptation is based on the popular middle-grade novel of the same name, penned by author Peter Brown.
When is The Wild Robot streaming on Peacock?
The film will arrive on the NBCUniversal streaming platform Peacock on Friday, January 24.
Meanwhile, supporters have the option to stream or buy the movie online through services such as Vudu and Apple TV at their convenience.
What is The Wild Robot about?
Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o (from “A Quiet Place: Day One”) lends her voice to ROZZUM “Roz” unit 7134, a humanoid robot stranded on a secluded island inhabited solely by wildlife. Although Roz appears to be an out-of-place character who doesn’t fit with the natural environment, she becomes an integral part of the local ecosystem when she decides to care for an orphaned goose named Brightbill (known from “Rocketman”), whom she adopts as her own.
Sanders commented in an official statement, “What stood out to me most in this book was its ability to convey deep emotions through seemingly simple narratives. I found myself drawn to its innocent and heartfelt qualities. I’m particularly captivated by stories with powerful emotional undertones. Though I enjoy epic adventures, it’s the subtle, personal moments that have a lasting impact. These are aspects I focus on as a filmmaker, and I believe The Wild Robot showcased them exceptionally well.
The gifted ensemble includes Pedro Pascal as Fink the fox, Catherine O’Hara playing Pinktail the possum, Bill Nighy lending his voice to Longneck the goose, Stephanie Hsu as the administrative robot Vontra, Mark Hamill voicing Thorn the grizzly bear, Matt Berry as Paddler the beaver, and Ving Rhames portraying Thunderbolt the falcon.
