The Netflix-produced series based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s popular fantasy books, “The Witcher,” has sparked a great deal of debate and enthusiasm among fans lately, mainly due to the contentious recasting. Despite the controversy, the show boasts a loyal fanbase eager for the upcoming season. In the midst of the suspense, one of the actors from the show has discussed the “difficulty” she encountered with Netflix regarding the release of Season 4 photographs.
Safiyya Ingar, known for her role as Keira Metz, the Temerian sorceress in The Witcher , one of the returning cast members alongside Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer and Freya Allan’s Ciri, recently discussed the upcoming fourth season during an interview with ScreenRant at the Sundance Film Festival. While promoting her film, Brides, Ingar reminisced about a moment from the set at the beginning of production when she shared a photo on social media.
I’m unable to do it as they have me in such a tight bind that any word I speak might violate the Non-Disclosure Agreement, and my phone would likely start ringing immediately.
Last year around this time, we began our stunt training, which wasn’t widely known but became apparent when I shared a photo of the prop swords on social media. The post was quite vague, and there were no indications about what exactly it was for. However, since everyone figured out that we had started filming again based on other information, my simple caption “We’re back” didn’t cause any issues.
However, I received a call… It wasn’t good news! “Hello, you must remove that post.” I responded, “Hello, who is this? “You need to take that down from your social media. There’s been an unauthorized access. The tabloids have obtained it.” And I was like, “But it’s a collection of swords! The Witcher character wields a sword!
Netflix Refuses to Give Away Any ‘The Witcher’ Spoilers… Yet
Among many reasons that draw fans into the captivating world of “The Witcher“, apart from its exceptional world-building, complex narrative, and occasional monster slaying, is indeed Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia, a character that is both rough around the edges yet compelling. The announcement that Cavill was leaving the role due to creative disagreements naturally left fans feeling unsettled. However, as attention shifted, it fell on Liam Hemsworth, who has been chosen to take over from Cavill in the role.
Netflix has kept quiet about specifics regarding the upcoming season, not revealing details such as its storyline and cast. As of now, there’s no scheduled release date, so fans may have to be patient until a trailer is unveiled for any substantial updates and a sneak peek at Hemsworth in his role. By the way, Ingar hinted at how Hemsworth appears in his character as the new Witcher.
“But what I can say is that Liam looks great. That’s it. That’s all I can say.”
After the recent news update about the cast change, fans have started coming to terms with it. Moreover, the fact that fellow actors and show producers believe Hemsworth could bring the same depth and physicality as Cavill to the character is providing comfort. However, we’ll only know how Season 4 develops and how the new Geralt will impact the Continent when the story unfolds over time.
