‘There Is Room On My Door’: Michael Bublé Using Titanic And More Movie Plots To Try And Win Singers On The Voice Is My Favorite Thing This Season

As a seasoned gamer of life with over two decades worth of experiences tucked under my belt, I must say that the 2024 edition of The Voice has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, thanks to the addition of Snoop Dogg and the surprising antics of Michael Bublé.

Spoiler alert! This story reveals which teams a couple of auditioning artists ended up joining on the October 8 episode of The Voice. If you need to catch up on Season 26, episodes can be streamed with a Peacock subscription.

It’s likely not shocking to anyone that Snoop Dogg has brought a unique touch to the 2024 TV lineup, joining “The Voice” as a new coach. He consistently says the right things to keep everyone motivated and amused, and I’m looking forward to seeing him return for more seasons. However, I must confess that Michael Bublé, our other newbie coach in Season 26, has taken me by surprise. I didn’t realize he was so hilarious, and I can’t get enough of his creative use of movie plots like “Titanic” to win over the artists.

The Blind Auditions have been quite exciting this season, with a new rule and some groundbreaking auditions. On October 8, as artists performed for the first Tuesday episode of the season (which was affected by the presidential election), it’s not surprising that Michael Bublé resorted to a slight exaggeration to grab the hopefuls’ attention. Gabrielle Zabosky managed to turn all four judges’ chairs with her rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s “Mr. Know It All,” and Bublé passionately advocated for her joining his team, stating:

As a child, I’d often croon tunes on a grand ocean liner, a fact that might surprise you. One unforgettable day, I encountered a girl, and let me tell you, she swept me off my feet on this very ship. She had an uncanny knack for capturing the essence of French boys in her art. Alas, there was a tragic incident, one that made headlines worldwide. The liner we were sailing on, unfortunately, sank.

As things unfolded, I realized the topic at hand was about the Titanic. I couldn’t help but ask if that was what Michael Bublé was referring to. He responded by claiming he had no idea about it, and we all laughed, including the coaches and the audience on The Voice, as he continued with his explanation.

Essentially, what I wanted to convey is this: That girl I couldn’t save, I’ve lost her forever. Hear me out, friends, it’s not a joke. As I observed Rose submerge underwater, it struck me that if I had allowed her to join me on the door, we could have survived [together indefinitely]. … Long story short, there is enough space on my door for both of us. Neither of us need to perish tonight.

What a show! He put in nothing but effort, yet the singer ultimately decided to team up with Gwen Stefani. However, “Home” singer found better fortune with Jamison Puckett, who sang Journey’s “Faithfully.” Reba McEntire and Michael Bublé both swivelled their chairs for the artist, leaving Bublé displeased because he didn’t wish to compete against the Country Queen due to his past traumas. Bublé elaborated:

I’m really struggling right now. My disappointment runs deep since Reba changed, too. Frankly, I’ve had enough of all this. Back when I was around 20 or 21, I left home for Los Angeles, hoping to make it big. There was an underground club where we often clashed. In fact, discussing it was strictly prohibited, rule No. 1. Now, after everything I’ve been through with the fighting…

Once it became clear that he was merely feigning a role from the movie Fight Club, Reba McEntire activated a device, filling the room with her hit track “You Lie”. Michael Bublé burst out laughing so intensely that tears streamed down his face, exclaiming in delight.

It’s happening again! I’m back in a fight club with Reba McEntire!

The coaches on The Voice, particularly Blake Shelton, have been famous for their playful behavior and sometimes stretching the truth to secure artists. However, Michael Bublé stands out because he begins with such genuine sincerity that it often takes a moment to discern his tactics, and surprisingly, these actions seem more authentic than those of other mentors. It’s as if this is truly a reflection of his personality rather than something the show has instructed him to do.

During the October 7th broadcast, his self-disappointment over failing to join MisterMoon’s duo on Team Snoop was so palpable that he likened himself to a character from “Pretty Woman”. In Michael Bublé’s own phrasing:

Let me tell you straight up, in the past, as a young man, I went shopping on Rodeo Drive and entered an exclusive store where some women snobbishly commented that if I had to ask the price, I couldn’t afford it. It stung me back then. However, I returned the following day dressed smartly, flaunting my wealth, and asked them if they worked on commission. They did, and I told them it was a regrettable choice on their part, and I think today, I might be one of those women earning a commission.

Michael Bublé is incredibly enthusiastic and seems to overdo things, which makes it hard for me not to notice. On more than one occasion, he’s even gone as far as to claim that he was once part of a ska band in the ’90s, something that Gwen Stefani might find familiar. He also attempted to involve another singer in helping him plan his wedding anniversary celebration (when it was actually Stefani’s anniversary with Blake Shelton).

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ll confess it – that show has got me in its grip! I can hardly contain my excitement to tune in every Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, eagerly anticipating the captivating tales that unfold on The Voice.
