As a seasoned runner with miles upon miles under my belt and cities across the globe etched into my soles, I’ve seen it all – from the cobblestone streets of Florence to the bustling boulevards of New York City. However, this new campaign by Under Armour has truly captured my heart (and feet) with their Infinite Elite shoe.
Currently, casual runners are taking on new challenges by participating in marathons, trail runs, and other extended races. As their running style evolves, so does the requirement for customized footwear. Fortunately, Under Armour has a solution to meet these changing needs.
This year, the sportswear brand revealed the Infinite Elite as part of its latest running collection. Designed specifically for endurance training, this high-performance shoe boasts a lightweight and reactive base along with advanced technical attributes. As runners push themselves towards new personal records, it’s intended to shift attention from their feet to the finish line.
Under Armour launches a fresh marketing effort featuring three UK runners who get to try out the shoes on their usual city running paths in Manchester, Liverpool, and London. The campaign showcases how they transform their urban surroundings into challenging running courses, opting for narrow streets and steep inclines instead of standard race tracks. As these athletes put the Infinite Elite through its paces on their city routes, the campaign highlights their determination to exceed their boundaries amidst the busy city landmarks that keep them alert.

Hermen Dange
“Manchester is the ultimate running playground because you feel like you can take over the city,” says long-distance runner Hermen Dange who opens the series in his hometown. Like a typical day of training with his run club Made Running, the runner makes a beeline for the busiest areas like Gay Village and Piccadilly Gardens, showcasing how he embraces his city with open arms, rain or shine. As he pounds the pavements, “bringing the sound” to Market Street, Dange’s strides motivate him to take on the uphill stretch with grit and willpower. “Runners create the atmosphere, we bring the vibe to Manchester,” he expresses.
After pushing his stamina, he slows down his pace and ends his run in the lively Northern Quarter neighborhood. Here, he takes a moment to reflect on his running journey next to one of his favorite landmarks. “Every time I get a personal best, it makes me feel better, physically and mentally like I’ve just received a gold medal,” he explains. “I’m very competitive so as long as my feet are happy, the results will be even happier.”

Rubi Deschamps
As a native of one northern English city, I, Rubi Deschamps, offer you a glimpse into my jog around Liverpool. “This is where I’ve grown up,” I say, “a place filled with familiar faces.” My preferred route is dotted with iconic landmarks like Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane, as well as local parks that stir memories of my youth.
Not only a nostalgia trip, but the route also poses a variety of challenges, particularly the runner’s final stop at Mossley Hill Field – the place where she first began athletics training. “I can almost feel the challenges of the hill just by looking at it,” she explains looking out at the task at hand. Launching herself upwards, the runner reaches the peak in less time than anticipated, finishing her run with a sense of euphoria, she says, “When I get to the top and overlook the city, I have this feeling of accomplishment – it’s an amazing feeling.”

Yaz Johnson
Making my way to the capital to wrap up the series, Yaz Johnson, a part-time stylist and runner, sets off on a journey that takes her from the bustling markets on Brick Lane all the way to the towering skyscrapers of Liverpool Street. “I usually do this route with friends at 6 a.m.,” she notes. Navigating the city as it stirs from slumber isn’t for everyone, but for Johnson, this brief moment of tranquility as the city comes alive offers her an opportunity to reconnect with her inner self. “You can immerse yourself completely and the world around you seems to fade away,” she says.
Boosting her pace, Johnson approaches central London, finding the cushioned shape handy amidst the bustling commuter areas. “Running through the busier sections of London is thrilling,” she shares. “I have to maneuver around people carefully, ensuring I don’t cause too much disturbance.” As she wraps up her run and takes a break on London Bridge, she glances at her Infinite Elite shoes and confides, “They’ll help me complete my upcoming 10k races smoothly without any unexpected issues.
