As a vintage-loving, nostalgic soul who has spent countless hours poring over old photographs of bygone eras, the Bogey Boys x Ebbets Field Flannels collaboration strikes a chord deep within my heart. Growing up in the 90s, I remember the days when golfers didn’t just dress for performance, but also for style and panache. The sight of a well-dressed golfer on the course was as common as a well-hit drive or a sinking putt.
The modern brand, Bogey Boys, launched in 2019 by Seattle rapper Macklemore, is all about evoking a sense of nostalgia for the heyday of golf fashion, as Macklemore puts it, “a time when people actually dressed up to play golf.” As we moved from the 2000s into the 2010s, golf fashion shifted towards emphasizing performance as players sought to redefine themselves as athletes and switched from cotton to polyester polos. However, Bogey Boys is promoting a return (or perhaps a leap if you look at it differently) to high-quality materials. So, partnering with the vintage-inspired Ebbets Field Flannels isn’t such an unexpected move.
The collection consists of 11 items, primarily featuring a traditional baseball jersey adorned with pinstripes and embroidered patches. This jersey is made from wool flannel, similar to the uniforms of yesteryears, with the Bogey Boys logo prominently displayed at the center as if it’s the team name. A co-branded patch is sewn onto the bottom right corner. The alternative jersey, or change jersey, is predominantly navy and lacks buttons. It’s a pullover style shirt that resembles baseball attire from the 90s with its double-knit polyester construction, v-neck, stretchy collar, and cuffs. To complement these main pieces, there are baseball caps, trucker hats, t-shirts, hoodies, coach jackets, and accessories.
The prices for this collection vary from $10 to $250 USD, and you can buy these items directly from the Bogey Boys website right away.
