As a devoted fan of magic and mayhem, I can’t help but reminisce about the unforgettable trio that swept the world by storm – Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Introduced in J.K. Rowling’s captivating YA fantasy books series back in the ’90s, these Gryffindor legends have left an indelible mark on generations of readers.
And while each character is as endearing as the next, fans like me have plenty to say about these literary-turned-movie icons. A hilarious Harry Potter reel that’s been circulating online has managed to capture my thoughts about these beloved heroes perfectly!
For those well-versed in the magical world of Harry Potter and his closest companions, each character has their shining moments in the iconic (and scoreable) HP films. These key scenes, unique to each character, might vary somewhat in significance – as humorously illustrated by the amusing reel. The brief video is set against a quidditch field backdrop, with text superimposed that underscores how Ron Weasley, despite being raised in a fully magical household, consistently falls behind Harry and Hermione. The piece concludes with a cleverly edited clip from Tim Robinson’s sketch show, I Think You Should Leave, providing a comical summary of the entire reel through his exaggerated exclamation.

It’s hard to argue against the fact, even though it may seem amusing, that many of us have noticed some striking truths about Ron in the movie versions of Harry Potter. It’s clear that Harry has exceptional skills, given how crucial he is to the storyline. And without Hermione’s life-saving interventions throughout the series, thanks to her innate talents, the boys would have undoubtedly met their end.
In the movies, Weasley’s traits are often attributed to being one of seven siblings, having a temperamental nature, and providing comedic relief. As a fan of Ron, I feel that the portrayal in the films is faithful to his role in the saga. Some commenters within this post have noted that there are differences between the book and film versions of the youngest red-haired brother, which they refer to as translation issues. Here’s what some of them are saying:
Or, in a more conversational tone:
In the movies, Ron Weasley has traits that come from being one of seven siblings, having a bit of a hot temper, and providing comic relief. As a fan, I think they did a good job portraying him in the saga. Some people in this post have pointed out that there are differences between how he’s depicted in the books versus the movies, which they call translation problems. Here’s what a few of them have to say:
- Book Ron: actually great at Quidditch when his confidence isn’t low. He is insanely great at chess. He understands other magical beings powers better than Harry or Hermione. He can cast a corporeal patronus. Spoke Parseltongue to get into the chamber and it was his idea to go to get the Basilisk fang to stab horcruxes. –chrissy_hartley_xoxo
- Book Ron is much better. They did movie Ron dirty – jay_625_
- The movies make Ron look dumb compared to the books – the_j_man500
It’s wonderful to observe support pouring in for the third member of the group, who unfortunately got the least favorable treatment. This movie reel highlights the Hollywood interpretation of HP and demonstrates how it unfairly favored the beloved underdog. Let’s not overlook his crucial role as the one who seems to bind them all. Although it may not be a particularly dramatic talent, without that bond, we can only speculate about what could have transpired for the group.
The popular trio and the enchanting Wizarding Universe they’re part of have been generating a lot of conversation lately. Streaming giant Max is currently developing a TV reboot of the seven-book series, set to retell the epic saga. Although the show won’t air until 2026, fans can look forward to the new Potter adaptation then. The upcoming series has sparked various opinions, but original Potter director Chris Columbus has expressed his enthusiasm for it.
The HP reel might seem a bit absurd, yet it effectively highlights the discrepancies among the young ginger character within the successful threesome. To put it simply, for me and others like me, Harry, Ron, and Hermione will forever be equal peers in my mind’s eye.
Consider these dynamics as you watch the complete set of eight Harry Potter movies, which can be streamed using a Peacock subscription or a Max subscription.
