As a film critic with over three decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen countless collaborations between talented actors that have resulted in some truly unforgettable on-screen moments. However, few duos have captured my heart quite like the dynamic pairing of Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan. Their bond, forged through three films together – Little Women, The French Dispatch, and Lady Bird – is as strong as ever, and their friendship off-screen is a testament to their mutual respect and admiration for each other’s talent.
Timothée Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan have grown incredibly close after working together in three movies – “Little Women”, “The French Dispatch”, and “Lady Bird”. Off-screen, they’ve fostered a strong friendship, standing by each other through thick and thin. Given their tight bond, it’s natural that there might have been the occasional disagreement between them. An instance of this occurred during the filming of “Little Women”, as Chalamet recently revealed an instance where his poor time management resulted in Ronan scolding him.
As a passionate cinephile, I recently found myself reminiscing about a special moment when the dynamic duo got together for an occasion hosted by the British Film Institute in the heart of London. These talented thespians have had quite a remarkable year – Saoirse Ronan’s film “Blitz” made its debut on AppleTV+, and Timothée Chalamet’s “A Complete Unknown” has been creating quite a buzz. Their reunion was filled with heartwarming memories of their early careers and collaborations, including the production of “Little Women.
My goal was to take a regional trip through the United States and explore areas impacted by [Beautiful Boy]. The purpose behind this journey was sincere.
Although Timothée Chalamet’s intentions were sincere, the discussion was consuming precious minutes during the filming of Little Women, causing Saoirse Ronan and her colleagues great frustration. In fact, she went to his trailer to personally escort him out. Chalamet later recalled this incident.
There’s a strong knock on my trailer door, reminiscent of a heartbeat. It makes me think someone has passed away. I open the door to find Saoirse wearing a bald cap. She demands, “Hurry up and get inside the trailer immediately! They’re ready for you in hair and makeup.” That moment is one I cherish.
Without a doubt, this incident seemed to provide the spark he needed, yet it likely brought about some amusement too. It’s easy to imagine that Chalamet wasn’t anticipating his irate co-star adorning a bald cap as he stepped into his trailer. Since they had collaborated on Lady Bird previously, there was no underlying tension between them. Now, they share laughter over the incident. I believe Ronan acted appropriately, given that Chalamet should have been focusing on being ready for filming instead of a personal workout schedule at that particular moment.
It’s great that the star of “Call Me By Your Name” has managed his hectic schedule better now, as it seems like he’s always got a new project to promote. First came “Wonka,” followed swiftly by “Dune: Part 2,” and then the press tour for “A Complete Unknown.” Soon, he’ll be promoting his upcoming film with Josh Safdie, titled “Marty Supreme,” which is slated for release next year. Fingers crossed that this experience of working together with Saoirse Ronan on a previous project has helped him to always be punctual for hair and makeup, especially if they collaborate again in the future.
