As a lifelong gamer who grew up with the PlayStation 2, this news has me absolutely thrilled! The memories I have of that console are countless, from playing late into the night with friends to discovering new games and immersing myself in virtual worlds. Seeing this LEGO set come to life, so intricately designed and interactive, is a dream come true for me and many others who share the same nostalgia.
If LEGO and Sony give their blessings, I can only imagine the joy it will bring to gamers of all ages when they get to build and play with this piece of gaming history. It’s an incredible idea that combines two iconic brands, and I truly hope it becomes a reality.
One thing’s for sure – if this set ever hits the shelves, I’ll be first in line to grab one! And who knows, maybe I’ll even build a custom LEGO memory card with my own gaming achievements etched onto it. Just don’t ask me to put it together without instructions – that’d be a challenge even for someone as skilled as Master Chief!
A LEGO PlayStation 2 concept designed by users has gained sufficient popularity on the LEGO Ideas platform that LEGO is now contemplating producing it as a genuine product, as reported by PushSquare.
In simple terms, the collection designed by a user called RippleDrive now has enough backers (10,000) to enter the assessment stage handled by LEGO’s design team. They will evaluate the idea to determine if it’s worth moving forward for actual development.
As someone who has spent countless hours gaming since I was a child, I can confidently say that the new mock-up set of the PlayStation 2 console, complete with a DualShock 2 controller and memory cards, is an exciting addition to any collector’s arsenal. The attention to detail in replicating the size and appearance of the real items really transports me back to my youth, reminding me of the countless adventures I had with these iconic gaming devices. It’s amazing how something as simple as a toy can evoke such strong emotions and memories. I eagerly await the day I can get my hands on this set and relive those nostalgic moments once again.
This design is exceptionally user-interactive: You can take off the memory card covers, slide the memory cards into the game system, connect controllers to the device, and even open and close the disc tray. Furthermore, you can detach the top of the console to get a better look at the internal mechanisms of the system.
On the LEGO Ideas site, RippleDrive explained his motivation for constructing a PS2 replica: “I chose to create a PS2 because it brings back many wonderful memories from my childhood and adulthood, making it my all-time favorite gaming console. Coincidentally, 2020 marked the 20th anniversary of the release of the PS2, which further inspired me to build this model.
If the LEGO design idea gets a green light, the toy manufacturer must secure Sony’s approval prior to selling it in stores. Keep an eye out for future announcements.
