This Year's Air Jordan 5 "Black Cat" Reportedly Cancelled

As a seasoned sneakerhead with over two decades of collecting under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of releases that have left me feeling like I’ve been dangled a carrot only to have it snatched away at the last moment. The latest casualty on the chopping block is the long-awaited Air Jordan 5 “Black Cat.

Update: As Jordan Brand prepares for its holiday launches, whispers about several cancelled releases have emerged through MrUnloved1s, who earlier hinted at the cancellation of several anticipated Travis Scott projects. Among the scrapped releases are the Air Jordan 5 “Black Cat,” initially generating excitement among sneaker enthusiasts in January, and the Air Jordan 3 “Brown Cement.” Despite these cancellations, there are still exciting drops to anticipate later this year, with the Air Jordan 4 “Fear” making a comeback.

Yea.. these too.. canceled.

Each year, Jordan Brand skillfully blends fresh and familiar color combinations. Some of these designs are repeated across various shoe models over time, forming a unique and continually expanding family tree. A well-liked series that has gained significant popularity is the all-black “Black Cat” finish. First appearing on the Air Jordan 4 in 2006, it has since been applied to other Air Jordans like the 6 and 13.

As a die-hard sneaker enthusiast, I’ve got some exciting news straight from the grapevine! The legendary “Black Cat” treatment seems to be making a comeback for the iconic Air Jordan 5. Although the exact color scheme is under wraps, it’s safe to say that it will sport a blend of sleek black and dark gray accents across the shoe. Sneaker Files hints that this might just be an SE release, which means we can expect a luxurious nubuck upper on this beauty! Can’t wait for more details to drop!

Currently, there’s no announced schedule from Jordan Brand regarding the release of the Air Jordan 5 in the alleged “Black Cat” color scheme. Keep an eye out for further news, such as a sneak peek at the shoe itself, as we eagerly anticipate its arrival this holiday season on Nike SNKRS and select retailers.
