As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for cutting-edge tech and a soft spot for AI, I’ve been keeping my ears peeled for innovative devices that can elevate my gaming and daily life experiences. The Ola Friend earbuds from ByteDance, priced at ¥1,199 CNY ($170 USD), have certainly piqued my interest.
ByteDance, the company behind TikTok, is venturing into the hardware industry for the first time by releasing a pair of earbuds. Known as the Ola Friend, these earbuds will be making their debut exclusively within China.
These earbuds stand out due to their built-in AI chatbot, allowing users to operate them independently without needing a smartphone. As described by the South China Morning Post, these buds are designed to function as an audio assistant for various scenarios such as traveling, language practice (like English), music listening, or just seeking companionship.
Users can activate their earbuds by saying the command “Doubao Doubao,” which is derived from ByteDance’s artificial intelligence model, as reported by SCMP.
The Ola Friend buds are priced at ¥1,199 CNY ($170 USD), launching on October 17 only in China.
