Tim Allen and Hulu Help Fill Out ABC’s Midseason Lineup

As a die-hard TV enthusiast who’s been tuning in since the days of black and white television, I can confidently say that 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for us couch potatoes! ABC’s midseason lineup promises a delightful blend of familiar faces and fresh content. The return of “Only Murders in the Building” on Thursday nights is like a warm hug from old friends, and I can’t wait to dive back into the mystery with my favorite trio.

In the opening months of 2025, you can expect to see some well-known personalities gracing ABC’s screens. These individuals will be a mix from our very own talent pool at ABC as well as those hailing from our sister platform, Hulu.

ABC’s midseason programming lineup features a number of Hulu series to keep the schedule lively. The second season of “Only Murders in the Building” is set to premiere on Thursdays in January, while unscripted shows like “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and “Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini” will also be aired on ABC during the winter season.

ABC aired season one of OMITB last season to help fill out its lineup before the network’s own scripted shows made their post-strikes return. With a still light slate of new programming — the Tim Allen-led comedy Shifting Gears is the only new scripted show set for the first quarter — the Hulu shows will fill in gaps on the schedule while some others (notably the current Thursday lineup of 911, Doctor Odyssey and Grey’s Anatomy) take a break.

Starting January 8th, “Shifting Gears,” featuring Kat Dennings, will kick off the network’s Wednesday evening lineup. Meanwhile, “Abbott Elementary” will be shifted an hour earlier to 8:30, followed by “Celebrity Jeopardy!” and the continuous show “What Would You Do?” wrapping up the night.

Starting January 7th, I’ll be diving back into my gaming schedule, with “Will Trent” and “The Rookie” gracing our screens, sandwiching the breakout hit “High Potential” on Tuesdays. Then, on January 27th, it’s off to Mondays at 8 p.m. ET for a new season of “The Bachelor”. That’ll be followed by “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” at 10, keeping the weekdays exciting!

Beginning January 2nd, a fresh edition of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” hosted by Joanna Teplin and Clea Shearer from The Home Edit, will air. This will be followed by a four-week run of multiple episodes of “Only Murders.” After the conclusion of “Only Murders,” the docuseries “Scamanda” (originally slated for fall) and “Perfect Wife” will fill Thursday nights until March 6th, when “911,” “Doctor Odyssey,” and “Grey’s Anatomy” return. Starting Sunday, March 9th, “American Idol” and “The $100,000 Pyramid” will make their debut.

Besides ABC’s announcement that the final season of “The Conners” will air in March, they have not specified an exact date as of now. Similarly, the release dates for “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” and “Press Your Luck” are yet to be determined.
