Tim Allen Reveals ‘Toy Story 5’ Script Details

As a gamer who has grown up with the Toy Story franchise, the news of Toy Story 5 brings me uncontainable excitement! I can still remember the days when Buzz Lightyear and Woody were my constant companions during countless hours of gaming sessions. Tim Allen’s recent interview about the upcoming film only amplifies my anticipation.

71-year-old Tim Allen has shared insights on the script for the eagerly awaited movie, “Toy Story 5”. He confirmed his role in reprising the character’s voice that he made iconic – Buzz Lightyear.

During the interview, Allen mentioned that he recently completed a five-hour session for the project named ‘Buzz’, approximately a week prior. He expressed it felt strange to dive back into it, but couldn’t reveal any details. However, he did hint at an exceptionally intriguing storyline, stating that it’s unlike anything he’s ever encountered before. The actor emphasized his admiration for the script, suggesting that if it weren’t for its brilliance, they wouldn’t have pursued the project or contacted him and Tom Hanks. He further reiterated how smartly crafted the plot is, but initially found it challenging to get back into character, eventually finding his stride after around two hours.

Regarding the character he’s portrayed since Buzz Lightyear debuted in Toy Story back in 1995, Tim Allen openly admitted, “I feel incredibly fortunate to be Buzz Lightyear. Honestly, it’s going to be a blast.” He shared some insights into the production process by saying, “We’re approximately a year away. I’ve reached the third act. We’ll work on that, then polish it up. I’ll probably do it about five more times. It’s an excellent story, folks, really good.” Allen also mentioned how Toy Story led to a special bond between him and Tom Hanks, calling it a moving experience for both of them, “When I said, ‘To infinity,’ and Tom replied, ‘and beyond,’ it was a profound moment for us. We’re close friends, and that was something I cherished.

Toy Story 5 is slated to release on June 19, 2026.
