Following numerous years of quietness and a seemingly endless number of rumors that didn’t pan out, the murmurs about Titanfall 3 are becoming less like wishful thinking and more like actual developments.
According to two reliable sources within the Apex Legends fanbase (YOROTSUKI and Osvaldatore), there’s a possibility that game developer Respawn Entertainment might unveil their anticipated follow-up title earlier than previously thought.
Let’s take a quick step back: Titanfall has had a tumultuous past with Electronic Arts (EA). The initial game omitted a traditional campaign altogether, emphasizing multiplayer and debuting exclusively on Xbox in 2014, at a time when the Xbox One was experiencing some difficulties.
Titanfall 2 made improvements on its predecessor by incorporating a standout single-player campaign, which is often praised as one of the finest first-person shooter (FPS) adventures of the last ten years.
However, the game’s launch was always at a disadvantage, as it came out during the same period as Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1.
In spite of this, Titanfall 2 was able to cultivate a devoted fanbase, and that trend persisted. The climax came with Apex Legends, a free-to-play battle royale set in the same world, which eventually emerged as Respawn’s most successful game.
Despite the success of Apex Legends and a bustling studio working on large-scale projects such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, fans continued to question: when can we expect Titanfall 3?
A post from user Osvaldatore on the platform X (previously Twitter) displayed an image that appeared to be the logo for Titanfall 3. This alone would have been noteworthy, but another leaker, YOROTSUKI, promptly backed up this claim.
Based on their reports, it appears that the secretive project Respawn has been developing since late 2024 is, in reality, the upcoming installment of the Titanfall franchise.
They claim the game will be revealed at The Game Awards 2025, with a release slated for 2026.
Back in those chat rooms on Discord, I remember YOROTSUKI dropping a teaser about it way back when, casually referring to it as a “covert game” from the creative minds at Respawn.
On April Fool’s Day, they disguised their actions, claiming it was entertaining to reveal astonishing facts when people are least prepared. However, doubt remains, and rightfully so. Online discussions indicate that many enthusiasts are weary.
While some people approach the concept with a cautious optimism, others outright dismiss it due to claims that the release of Titanfall 2 was undermined by its publisher when it entered the market amidst two dominant first-person shooter games. Some are already bracing themselves for potential letdown, believing that Titanfall 3 might never materialize or simply turn into an Apex Legends spinoff instead.
Given that Apex Legends takes place within the Titanfall universe, it’s reasonable to assume that any news from Respawn could possibly hint at an upcoming update, collaboration, or temporary game mode, rather than a completely new title.
As a dedicated gamer, I reckon if Yorotsuki and Osvaldatore are correct, it’s likely that Respawn Entertainment is running a third secret development team, distinct from both their Jedi and Apex projects.
After a long period of silence, there’s been renewed discussion surrounding the potential release of Titanfall 3 – something fans haven’t heard much about in years.
