As a cinephile who’s witnessed the evolution of DC films, I must admit that the Venice Film Festival has always been a special stage for DC’s most intriguing characters to strut their stuff. I must admit, debuting my movie at such a prestigious event like the Venice Film Festival is truly a dream come true! The black-and-white cinematography really resonated with me and added an extra layer of depth to the film. In his social media post, the director behind “The Hangover” expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the festival organizers for a fantastic weekend. Interestingly enough, this isn’t our DC crew’s first time gracing the event; 2019’s “Joker” also premiered here. In his own words, it seems he is equally thrilled to be back and share our work with such an appreciative audience.

Back from an amazing time at the Venice Film Festival in Italy! Thanks for having us again. What a whirlwind of a week, but we’re only warming up. “Joker: Folie à Deux” will be out on October 4th everywhere!

The movie titled “Joker: Folie À Deux” is generating quite a bit of chatter, but opinions about it, especially after its screening at Venice, seem to be divided sharply. Our critic Eric Eisenberg gave his take on the film and, while he commended the acting chemistry between Phoenix and Lady Gaga, he had some reservations about the movie’s tempo and tone. It appears that Eisenberg isn’t the only one with such feelings as many critics share similar sentiments towards Todd Phillips’ work. Nevertheless, the film was met with an extended 11-minute applause in Venice.

Despite some initial skepticism, the original film in this franchise faced similar criticism and was considered contentious, much like Joker did. Yet, Joker garnered a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars and Joaquin Phoenix took home the Best Actor award for his performance. Therefore, there’s a strong possibility that audiences and fans of the first movie will find Folie À Deux compelling as well. We’ll have to wait and see how the public responds to the movie, but it seems clear that Todd Phillips and his team are eagerly anticipating the buzz! Fingers crossed for more monochrome snapshots too!

You’ll have a chance to watch “Joker: Folie À Deux” nationwide on October 4th as part of its 2024 release schedule. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can also catch Joaquin Phoenix’s Academy Award-winning performance in the original film, which is now available for streaming to Max subscribers.
