Todd Phillips Responds After Seeing Deadpool And Wolverine’s Success And, Of Course Fans Have All The Joker 2 Comments

As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the latest box office sensation, Deadpool & Wolverine, has truly outdone itself. It’s not every day we witness such an impressive feat as becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time!

The duo of Deadpool and Wolverine has electrified the box office since its debut a few weeks ago, maintaining that initial buzz ever since. It’s now one of the early 2024 films to surpass $1 billion worldwide, setting another record in the process. Currently, this Marvel Studios production stands as the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever made, overtaking Todd Phillips‘ Joker, which previously held that title. Upon losing his top spot, Phillips graciously responded with a heartfelt message. Meanwhile, fans eagerly anticipate the sequel to Phillips’ DC Comics film, expressing their excitement online.

News of D&W’s new record dropped this weekend and, needless to say, it marks a major moment amid the film’s theatrical run. Upon seeing the news, Todd Phillips took to Instagram to react. The Hangover director not only shared a screenshot of a headline bearing the news, but he also dropped a funny photo of Deadpool dancing on the iconic Joker steps. In addition, Philips expressed his awe over the accomplishment via the following message:

I’ve got to take off my hat in appreciation for Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy – the masterminds behind this mind-blowing cinematic juggernaut! We all knew it was going to be a hit, but this level of awesomeness exceeded our expectations. 😂 Kudos to everyone who contributed to this fantastic production! 🫡

It was truly thoughtful of the movie director from the Old School era to give that shoutout. I must admit, I’m intrigued about how he obtained that photo of Wade Wilson dancing on the steps. Now, I can’t help but imagine seeing that scene up on the big screen. However, the picture aside, what makes this post endearing is that director Shawn Levy, who worked on Deadpool and Wolverine, noticed it and responded with a heartwarming comment:

Appreciate you, Todd Phillips! I’m absolutely thrilled to discover what delightful chaos you’ve prepared for us next…!

From what I can gather, it appears as though this situation is reminiscent of the phrase “one thief knows another,” to put it simply. And it’s clear that Shawn Levy isn’t alone in his enthusiasm for the upcoming movie “Joker: Folie à Deux“. In fact, numerous fans have expressed their excitement for the film in response to the director’s post. It seems they are optimistic that the movie will reclaim the title previously held by the Oscar-winning first installment of the Joaquin Phoenix-led series, which recently lost it. Here is a glimpse:

  • Congrats but not for long, we know what’s coming in October 🔥 – @jokerisjoaquin
  • Fantastic film, but we know what’s to come in October. Patiently waiting. – @stormvisuals
  • We did it first and with less money. – @kingkylie_jdoll
  • Love it! Now let’s break that record with joker 2!!! Hyped. Love both these franchises. – @thegeekstrong
  • Joker 2 is going to take it up again 🃏🫡🔥 – @alex.sjg01

It’s reasonable to suggest that Todd Phillips’ latest movie, “Joker: Folie à Deux,” might regain the top spot. The 2019 release of “Joker” made a significant impact at the box office, raking in a total of $1.079 billion worldwide and becoming the first R-rated film to achieve such success. Since it was released, there’s been an increased buzz around this new movie, with fans captivated by the grand musical numbers and spectacle showcased in the trailer. Furthermore, the excitement is heightened due to Lady Gaga joining the cast as Harley Quinn for “Joker 2.”

It’s clear that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman can draw a crowd, but Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga should have no trouble doing so this autumn as well. Whether or not Todd Phillips’ sequel surpasses the box office success of Deadpool & Wolverine, I’m just happy to see the camaraderie between Phillips and Shawn Levy.

The sequel to “Joker: Two Faces of Madness” is scheduled for release on October 4th, and the original movie is currently streaming with a Max membership. Additionally, you can catch “Deadpool and Wolverine” in theaters across the country right now.
