Todd Snyder FW25 Is a Lesson in Class

To commence New York Fashion Week on a Thursday afternoon, Todd Snyder showcased his Fall 2025 collection at the Academy Mansion situated on the Upper East Side. This venue, with its 1920s architecture, mirrored the intelligence of the collection itself. Luminaries such as Brendan Fraser, Aaron Tveit, and Antoni Porowski graced the antique chairs of the front row, donning traditional Todd Snyder formal attire; a multitude of influential menswear curators served as testaments to the brand’s unique tailoring aesthetics. Brooklyn DJ Jivan Calderone added an edgy touch by spinning the music for the show on a grand marble platform. Upon entering, the atmosphere was a study in elegance, and the 65-look collection that followed embodied this refinement.

According to Snyder, the concept for this line originated with Saint-Germain, specifically during the 1980s. He described the locals’ diverse attire as inspiration, including students hanging out in shorts and ties, writers sipping coffee at Café de Flore wearing coats from Les Puce de Saint-Ouen, and businessmen dining at Le Voltaire while donning three-piece suits.

In this fashion mode, the assemblage showcased opulent velvets, silk brocades, and cashmere, painted in a lively spectrum including emerald green, aubergine, petrol blue, and rich brown tones. Alongside, navy herringbone Eisenhower jackets, cotton-coated trench coats, denim blazers, and mohair sweaters harmonized beautifully with double-pleated wool pants, flannel chalkstripe trousers, and linen-cotton shorts.

In the designer’s mind, these outfits spark intrigue – be it for a jazz musician off to perform at Le Bilboquet, or a French craftsman enjoying pinball at the tabac (two additional inspirational sources that graced Snyder’s visual inspiration board).

Eventually, this assortment delves into the fact that we all craft distinct individual expressions by gently defying the sartorial expectations life imposes upon us, according to Snyder’s summary.
