Tokyo Ghoul’s Ken Kaneki is Now a Monstrous Killer in Dead by Daylight

As a hardcore gamer, I’m blown away by the latest announcement from Dead by Daylight – they’re introducing Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul as their next killer! Anime enthusiasts are in for quite a shock with this game-changing reveal. This new version of Ken will be prowling the dark corners, using his terrifying bloodlust and powerful tentacles to hunt players down. With his menacing presence, he’s sure to be a formidable adversary in this horror title. Given Tokyo Ghoul’s reputation for creating some of the most disturbing characters ever imagined, reimagining a protagonist like Ken is a bold move that I can’t wait to experience!

In contrast to the anime and manga versions, as stated on the PlayStation Blog, Kaneki’s origin story undergoes a slight change. Just like in his canonical narrative, he manages to survive and vanquish the malevolent Ghoul named Jason. After successfully escaping this menacing character, an enigmatic black mist seizes hold of Kaneki, subsequently transporting him into the domain of The Entity. This revised backstory aligns with the events of this particular universe.

In order for Dead by Daylight to maintain its dark and terrifying atmosphere, it was essential to alter the character of Tokyo Ghoul’s Ken Kaneki. Since he’s not a villain in his original story, making him an antagonist controlled by The Entity fits better with the game’s theme. This transformation also opens up opportunities for him to be a menacing presence within the game. It goes without saying that avoiding this evil version of Kaneki will give players an eerie experience, and playing against him could potentially provide some exciting gameplay.

Instead of typical Western figures such as the Xenomorph and Freddy Krueger, it’s unexpected to encounter anime protagonists in this multiplayer game. Anime characters have made appearances before, but they often conform to the horror genre’s usual expectations, like Pyramid Head from Silent Hill or various characters from Resident Evil by Capcom.

Curiosity arises as to how enthusiasts of Tokyo Ghoul respond to this development, given that both the anime and manga series concluded some time past. While fans were previously presented with a Tokyo Ghoul multiplayer game, its quality was not well-received, resulting in minimal discussion about it.

Ken Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul will make his Dead by Daylight debut on April 2.
