As a longtime fan of Tom Cruise’s high-octane action films, this news about a potential sequel to “Days of Thunder” has me revving my engines with excitement! I remember the original movie vividly – the raw energy, the heart-pounding races, and, of course, Tom Cruise at his best. If anyone can deliver another blockbuster NASCAR flick, it’s definitely our man, Maverick himself.
As a die-hard film enthusiast, it seems like I’m about to gaze upon another heartwarming sequel brewing at Paramount. Reminiscing the triumph of “Top Gun: Maverick,” I find myself drawn to the prospect of crafting a continuation of my 1990 NASCAR cinematic adventure.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Cruise appears to be putting considerable effort into producing more box-office successes for Paramount Pictures. Apart from a new installment of “Top Gun”, and the “Mission: Impossible” series seemingly continuing past the next film, it seems that the thrill-seeking actor is now prepared to revisit the “Days of Thunder” franchise in a manner similar to “Top Gun”. A source who has knowledge of the discussions allegedly stated this information.
“He’s talking [to Paramount] about Top Gun and Days of Thunder. It’s going to be what comes together first in terms of a script. It depends on the idea and, ultimately, the script. I don’t think a [Days of Thunder sequel] is a terrible idea. You might have said that revisiting Top Gun was a terrible idea. I wouldn’t discount it.”
It appears that the project is still in its preliminary stages, as Paramount has reportedly been discussing writers for it. There’s uncertainty about when Tom Cruise might be able to accommodate such a film due to his busy schedule, which already includes Top Gun 3, a new movie with Alejandro G. Iñárritu at Warner Bros., a space-filming project with Doug Liman, and various other potential ventures.
More to come…
