Tom Everett Scott Boards ‘Legally Blonde’ Prequel ‘Elle’ at Amazon

Prime Video is adding to the cast of its Legally Blonde prequel Elle.

Actor Tom Everett Scott has signed up for the new series that traces the high school life of character Elle Woods, portrayed by Lexi Minetree. In this production, Scott is set to depict Wyatt, Elle’s father, while June Diane Raphael takes on the role of Elle’s mother, Eva. This is noteworthy as Scott previously starred in Amazon Prime Video’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty.

In May 2024, the streaming service owned by Amazon commissioned the series adaptation of Elle. Laura Kittrell, known for creating shows like Insecure and High School, will co-run the show with Caroline Dries, recognized for her work on The Vampire Diaries and Batwoman. Reese Witherspoon, who previously portrayed Elle in the two Legally Blonde films, and Lauren Neustadter are set as executive producers via their company Hello Sunshine. The production studio is Amazon MGM Studios.

The title of this show is “Elle” and it traces back to Elle Woods’ high school days, revealing the transformative events that molded her into the memorable character we grew fond of from the initial “Legally Blonde” movie.

Currently, Scott is playing a part in the series “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” which will air its third and concluding season on Prime Video in July. Previously, he has appeared on TV shows such as “13 Reasons Why” and “I’m Sorry,” and his filmography includes titles like “That Thing You Do!”, “Because I Said So”, and “La La Land”. Scott is represented by Gersh and John Carrabino Management.
