2024 marked a fantastic year for the actor, as he concluded the Venom trilogy. Subsequently, he was involved in two projects that were released directly on streaming platforms, and both achieved remarkable success on distinct online platforms.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that the latest addition is ‘Havoc’, an exhilarating action thriller. This masterpiece serves as a spin-off from the popular Paramount+ series, ‘MobLand’. Known for his work on ‘The Raid’, Gareth Evans took the helm as writer and director of ‘Havoc’. The movie features heavyweights like Tom Hardy, Timothy Olyphant, and Forest Whitaker in pivotal roles. Despite receiving a mix of reviews from critics and less-than-stellar ratings from audiences initially, ‘Havoc’ stormed its way to the top on Netflix, dominating the charts during its debut week, according to reports.
On April 25, Havoc debuted on Netflix, but it had just two days to leave a mark before the streaming service paused its timer. This makes its viewership all the more impressive since, during the week from April 21 to 27, Havoc managed to attract an astonishing 29.8 million views and was watched for a total of 53.1 million hours.
In a staggering turn of events, Havoc managed to break into the top 10 rankings in no less than 93 different countries. Remarkably, it even secured the leading position in 40 nations, among them Canada and the United States. The action-packed movie was subsequently followed by three other releases: The Life List, an animated version of Woody Woodpecker, and Oklahoma City Bombing: American Terror.
Despite garnering only a moderate approval from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, scoring just 61%, Havoc managed to keep its “fresh” label. This rating has since risen slightly to 64%. Unfortunately, the initial audience reception was not as positive; it started at 49% on the Popcornmeter and has since dropped to 38%.
As a cinephile, I’m thoroughly engrossed by Netflix’s latest offering – a gritty tale about a tormented detective, who navigates the treacherous criminal underworld. Assigned to rescue a politico’s lost son, this protagonist, Walker, finds himself grappling with his haunted past while simultaneously unmasking the city’s intricate layers of corruption and clandestine conspiracies.
This action movie features Jessie Mei Li, who starred in “Shadow and Bone”, Justin Cornwell from “The Umbrella Academy”, Quelin Sepulveda known for “Good Omens”, Luis Guzmán best recognized in “Wednesday”, the former MMA fighter Michelle Waterson, Sunny Pang famous for “The Night Comes for Us”, Jim Caesar popular in “The Witcher”, Xelia Mendes-Jones who appeared in “Fallout”, and Yeo Yann Yann from “The King of Musang King”.
Tom Hardy Also Found Major Success on Streaming With MobLand
Right before the premiere of “Havoc”, Hardy debuted a gangster series titled “MobLand”. This series has Guy Ritchie as its director, and it was jointly produced by Showtime/ MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Ronan Bennett, who created it. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are also part of the star-studded cast.
The crime drama “MobLand”, much like “Havoc”, has resonated strongly with both critics and viewers. It boasts a 75% Certified Fresh score from the critics and a 76% rating from audiences on the Popcornmeter. Remarkably, it’s the most successful series launch to date, garnering 8.8 million global viewers since its premiere. Additionally, viewership has skyrocketed by an impressive 298%, with the initial premiere attracting 2.2 million views.
Havoc is streaming on Netflix.
