What Did Tom Hiddleston Say About Returning For Avengers: Doomsday?
Regardless if you’ve seen all the Marvel films or only a few, you’re aware that some fantastic movies are part of this collection. The upcoming 2025 schedule includes two highly anticipated releases – “Thunderbolts” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”. But it’s not until 2026 that we can look forward to the first post-Infinity Saga team-up by the Avengers, with the premiere of “Avengers: Doomsday”.
The upcoming movie features the comeback of Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and he recently discussed his role announcement which was made during a lengthy casting reveal lasting over five and a half hours in late March. When asked by interviewer Max Balegde about his feelings now that the news is public, Hiddleston responded:
I am incredibly thrilled about discussing it because I usually find myself in a situation where I know a lot but can’t share anything! It’s quite peculiar; maintaining such discipline to keep this secret feels odd, but the experience of portraying Loki has been an exceptionally intriguing phase in my life, and there’s still more to come.
Absolutely not, sir! Far from it, actually. Fortunately for us Marvel enthusiasts, the actor is skilled at guarding Marvel secrets and adored as Loki, so there’s a strong possibility he’ll reprise his role indefinitely. Moreover, if you’ve kept up with his series, you’d realize that Loki could significantly influence the plot of the upcoming film.
Audience members are deeply immersed in the Multiverse Saga (which started with the premiere of Black Widow in 2021), and the Loki we’ve been following in the series plays a crucial role in the Marvel universe as a whole. In the slightly bewildering finale of Season 2, the revamped Trickster deity skillfully prevented all of reality from exploding by employing his powerful magical abilities to restore dying timelines across the multiverse.
Additionally, he assumed the role as the supreme protector of those timelines, stepping into the position left vacant by the Kang variant (killed by Sylvie) who had previously held it. This leads us to a multiverse where Loki is embarking on a fresh “noble mission” by the start of Doomsday.
Given that the movie, with only a vague plot revealed and Robert Downey Jr. portraying the villainous Doctor Doom, brings together characters from the original X-Men, Tunderbolts, Fantastic Four, and some yet unseen figures such as Channing Tatum’s Gambit, it seems plausible that Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, will have an interesting perspective on the events about to unfold.
