TOMBOGO SS25 Is All About Detachment

As a long-time follower of Tommy Bogo, I was absolutely blown away by the Spring/Summer 2025 collection at New York Fashion Week! The futuristic vibe and conceptual performance were like nothing I’ve ever seen before – it felt like stepping into a sci-fi movie!

At New York Fashion Week, Tommy Bogo made his grand comeback with an extraordinary spectacle. The forward-thinking Bay Area designer showcased his creations on a cutting-edge modular USM stage, set within the penthouse of NeueHouse Madison Square in Manhattan. Titled “Reverse Engineering,” TOMBOGO Spring/Summer 2025 collection delved deep into the intricacies of the brand’s design ethos and methodologies, offering a unique glimpse into the creative process behind the innovative designs presented.

Bogo described their collection as more than just a presentation with ‘Reverse Engineering’. Instead, they offered an interactive experience, inviting the audience to observe the process of disassembling and reassembling fashion. The models initially walked down the runway, then approached a separate platform where “lab technicians” in silver-studded white protective suits scrutinized each ensemble, enhancing it with additional items such as bags, eyewear, or other accessories.

27 versatile styles were featured in the highly popular brand’s showcase, boasting a lineup of celebrities such as Rich Amiri, AUDREY NUNA, Duckwrth, Billyracxx, UnoTheActivist, and AKTHESAVIOR.

The concept of detachability is strongly emphasized, as most items in the modular lineup come equipped with customizable options. Notably, functional jackets boast distinct shapes and structures, offering a versatile selection of styles such as bombers, cropped jackets, motorcycle jackets, and trench coats that can be tailored to your preference.

In addition to its large-scale designs, BOGO emphasizes spacious pockets on jackets, loose trousers, and skirts, as well as their bags. A variety of oversized bag designs are prominent among accessories, with TOMBOGO Tabi Swiper Mules dominating the footwear trend. The event also hinted at BOGO’s venture into the music industry, as the designer unveiled their first original single under the TOMBOGO label, “Another Time,” which was used as background music.

In simpler terms, each item presented in the show told a tale of functionality blended with creativity, along with sustainability harmoniously matched with style. To make the story even more relatable, I incorporated my own music to the performance, enabling our spectators to feel the emotion and motivation that fueled the designs. By physically displaying our creative journey on the runway, we provided a rare glimpse into TOMBOGO’s values.
