Regardless of whether you prefer tactical turns, strategic real-time gameplay, or a mix of unusual genres, you’ll find something appealing here. Go ahead and click below to discover, according to us, the top strategy games that we believe are perfect for your iPhone or iPad.

Find out more about Kingdom: Two Crowns
Top 25 best strategy games for iPhone and iPad (iOS)

As a strategy enthusiast, I’ve found an engaging side-scroller that streamlines the complexity often associated with the genre. Instead of intricate mechanics, it offers an intuitive 2D side-scrolling gameplay and a user-friendly learning process. Essentially, you’re the ruler, moving back and forth to establish your empire. You’ll gather villagers, reward them for their labor (essentially, building your empire), much like any esteemed monarch would do in real life.

In contrast to some other strategies, Kingdom: Two Crowns may not be as difficult, but it can still get complex at times. You might run out of funds, which could slow your progress significantly. Mastering resource management in this game is like mastering an art form, and if you’re seeking a more relaxed strategy experience, this game is an excellent choice.

Friends from our App Army community have established their own realm and shared a review of Two Crowns. If you’re looking for additional compelling reasons to give this game a try, don’t hesitate to take a peek at their thoughts!

Top 25 best strategy games for iPhone and iPad (iOS)

One of the most cherished real-time strategy (RTS) games ever made, set during World War II, is the Company of Heroes. This game’s tactical play, focused on squads, translates effectively onto modern iOS devices, although there are a few issues with touch controls. Despite these minor challenges, they won’t diminish the fantastic overall experience that players have grown accustomed to in CoH over time.

The game promises to fulfill all aspects, and strategically speaking, it’s wise to focus on constructing a formidable air force and dominating the battlefield. Employ every tactical move at your disposal, and secure the win!

17 Clash Royale

Publisher: Supercell
Available on: iOS + Android
Find out more about Clash Royale
Top 25 best strategy games for iPhone and iPad (iOS)

Strategy games don’t always have to tackle real-world issues or extraterrestrial conflicts. Sometimes, they can simply offer a few towers and an area to position units, like Clash Royale does. This real-time strategy (RTS) game is packed with events and content that enable players to express their creativity by creating decks of heroes. These decks are then used in combat to destroy the opponent’s base before they do the same to yours.

In contrast to how it might initially appear, even though this RTS game may seem relatively straightforward compared to others on the list, it is actually quite complex. In Clash Royale, each detail significantly influences the outcome of the game – whether it’s the timing of deploying your troops, their placement on the battlefield, or the direction they take, these factors all play a crucial role in determining the game’s outcome. For a comprehensive understanding of every essential aspect of this strategic title, be sure to check out our Clash Royale review for more insightful details.

If city-building games are your preference, you might want to consider giving this one a try as it’s definitely worth a look. Despite its higher price tag compared to free options, it outperforms many of them significantly. With its captivating gameplay, there’s a good chance that you’ll fall in love with it. Top 25 best strategy games for iPhone and iPad (iOS)

In “RoK,” you have the opportunity to employ some of history’s greatest military minds to direct your forces. What sets it apart is the significant influence that the civilization you choose and the commanders of your armies have on your gameplay style. This level of customization is not as prevalent in strategy games designed for mobile platforms like iOS or Android.

The graphics have a hint of Disney animation charm, making it visually appealing with vibrant colors. It’s truly a feast for the eyes. You’ll start your civilization from scratch, enhancing your troop numbers and their makeup while continually upgrading and researching. Raids are crucial in RoK, so brace yourself for attacks by other players, particularly if you don’t belong to an alliance. Naturally, you can also raid both players and NPCs across the global map.

As a fellow enthusiast, if you’re considering diving into city-building in the Republic of Korea (RoK), here’s a breakdown of what you should know about City Hall, along with suggestions for the top civilizations to choose from. While there are numerous guides available, I strongly advise taking an hour or two to skim through some before you begin, as openings can significantly impact your success in tactical games – they set the stage for everything that follows!

Find out more about Crush Your Enemies
Top 25 best strategy games for iPhone and iPad (iOS)

Ah, Crush Your Enemies – quite the intriguing name! Not many would be drawn to it, given its title alone. This game can best be described as an authentic real-time strategy experience. In this game, players engage in rapid, minutes-long skirmishes for territory and masculinity. It’s not just a well-crafted RTS, but a humorous title brimming with foul-mouthed, somewhat inebriated barbarians.

Every phase presents its own distinct character, and navigating through each one can sometimes prove tricky, yet it’s undeniably enjoyable. Indeed, much like the character of Conan, as suggested in our review for ‘Crush Your Enemies’.

Top 25 best strategy games for iPhone and iPad (iOS)

Post the COVID-19 outbreak, one might hesitate before releasing a large-scale virus or bacterium into the global community, even if it is within the context of a game like Plague Inc., where you craft your own lethal virus and spread it globally with the aim of annihilating humanity, or potentially turning them into apes (which is an expansion in the game).

As a gamer, I’ve found myself utterly engrossed in the intricate depths of Plague Inc. The game offers more layers than you might initially anticipate, from its initial setup to the myriad ways of spreading the disease. It demands strategic thinking and careful planning, forcing you to consider every aspect. You’re not just creating a virus; you’re engineering an ultimate weapon of mass destruction. It’s dark, strikingly realistic, and packed with strategy – give our Plague Inc. review a read if you want to delve deeper into this gripping gameplay experience.

As a gamer, diving into the world of iOS strategy games often means experiencing the grand, the epic, the expansive. However, Frozen Synapse takes a different approach, zooming in on the intricate details, allowing me to strategize each tense second of an intense firefight between digitally-simulated combatants. It’s like stepping into a cyberpunk future, isn’t it?

At first sight, Frozen Synapse might seem straightforward, but it quickly becomes hard to put down once you grasp its mechanics. Instead of the usual first-person shooter action with gore and intense battles, this game provides a comprehensive shooting experience in a different way. Upon closer inspection, however, you’ll find that Frozen Synapse is far more complex than it appears at first glance. Numerous aspects make this game truly remarkable, and once you understand them all, the gameplay becomes much clearer.

Find out more about Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance
Top 25 best strategy games for iPhone and iPad (iOS)

In this article, we’re excited to introduce the latest addition to a lengthy sequence of tower defense strategy games, which is causing quite a stir. In this version, both allies and adversaries must align on a single side to protect against an imminent threat I won’t disclose just yet. The gameplay remains consistent with the last four iterations; you’ll strategically position towers alongside roads anticipating where enemies will travel in their attempt to reach their objective.

In KR5, your characters, or heroes, will be ready to take on enemies head-on right away with their eye-catching and potent abilities. An intriguing aspect of KR5 is the ability to combine towers and heroes, but this can also result in conflicts between them, so it’s a bit of a two-edged sword. Despite that, each round becomes more exciting, and with over 20 campaign stages and various strategies for each one, the replay value is through the roof. The adorable artwork remains unchanged, which I’m pleased to see.
