Top mobile games of 2024: Jupiter’s picks of the year except really it’s just Pokemon Go

As a gaming enthusiast with a soft spot for all things Pokemon, I must say that 2024 has been an exceptional year for me and my fellow trainers! The community aspect of Pokemon Go has truly taken center stage this year, transforming it from just a game into a vibrant network of like-minded individuals.

From participating in local events organized by our dedicated Community Ambassador program to cleaning up litter around town and donating food to the needy, our community has grown stronger and closer. The camaraderie we share while battling in Raids, celebrating Shiny catches, and taking on Shadow Pokemon is second to none.

My family has also joined in on the fun, with Amelia and Robin becoming avid fans of Pokemon Go and collecting cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket. It’s been a joy connecting with them through this shared hobby.

Attending events like Go Fest Madrid and Pokemon Worlds has been the cherry on top, bringing together trainers from all over the world to celebrate our love for Pokemon. I even bumped into some familiar faces from my local community at these events, making the experience even more special.

All in all, Pokemon Go has become an integral part of my life and has brought me countless hours of enjoyment, new friendships, and unforgettable experiences. To top it off, let’s just say that I’ve caught more than a few rare Pokemon… or so the story goes when I tell my friends about my latest “accidental” catch!

It’s clear that I’m not a supporter of annual game of the year lists. To be honest, I couldn’t tell you the titles I played in January, and if you were to ask for my complete gaming catalog, it wouldn’t require more than one hand to count. The games I consistently return to are even fewer in number.

This year, I’ve been engrossed in several games I’ve enjoyed playing: Monster Hunter Now, Neopets Faerie Fragments, Pokemon TCG Pocket, and Monument Valley 3 among others. However, when things get hectic, I unfortunately have to set them aside.

2024 was a blast being a part of the Pokémon Go community, particularly for us in Harlow! Not only did Niantic host global events that kept things exciting, but they also supported local initiatives like ours through their Community Ambassador program. This year, I’ve been honored to serve as an ambassador for our town, and I can honestly say it’s been a game-changer for us. With the program refining itself, we’ve seen our community thrive and make a positive impact on Harlow.

Niantic encouraged ambassadors to pick up trash in a nearby location and our group has been collecting food bank contributions, offering in-game prizes for each participant. We’ve had an amazing experience fighting in Raids as a team, cheering over Shiny captures, and tackling Shadow Pokemon. For ten consecutive days, we organized various events that took place daily. Our community embodies the spirit of camaraderie among individuals who enjoy playing together.

Amelia is deeply fond of the game Pokemon Go, while Robin enjoys Dynamax Raids. These shared interests have greatly enhanced our family outings by adding excitement. Moreover, they both indulge in the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, making it enjoyable for us to bond with our younger relatives over a common pastime.

Apart from me, I too seized the wonderful chance to attend Pokemon Go Events this year; the Madrid Go Fest standing out significantly as an extraordinary experience. The entire venue was abuzz with fellow trainers, collectively enjoying the game. It was delightful spotting some of my local community members there as well. Moreover, the Pokemon Worlds, primarily focusing on card games, took place in London – and once again, I had a marvelous time rooting for members of my own community participating in Go Battles against others.

For me, Pokemon Go transcends the boundaries of just a game. It’s an engaging community of individuals who share similar interests, and I truly enjoy interacting and playing alongside them.
