Top Timothy Olyphant Shows and Movies to Watch on Netflix Right Now!

Born on a stage, Timothy Olyphant kick-started his on-screen journey in the late ’90s and has since graced numerous films and television series. He portrayed several antagonists before earning wider recognition through his role as Sheriff Seth Bullock in Deadwood. Following this, he took on various roles—some as the villain, others as the hero—in productions like Catch and Release, Justified, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I Am Number Four, and Live Free or Die Hard.

Currently, a number of Timothy Olyphant’s films and series can be streamed on Netflix. Regrettably, some of his most notable roles, such as in Deadwood and Justified, are not accessible at the moment. Furthermore, while he has brief appearances in various shows like The Mindy Project and The Good Place, these roles are primarily guest spots rather than main characters. Consequently, although they’re still worth watching, they have not been featured on this list.

After taking care of all the necessary details, I’m delighted to recommend these three captivating performances by Timothy Olyphant on Netflix that you can begin watching right away. Enjoy your viewing!

3
The Starling

In the comedic drama titled “The Starling“, we follow the lives of Jack (played by Chris O’Dowd) and Lilly (Melissa McCarthy), a couple who tragically lost their daughter to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. This devastating loss sends Jack to a mental health facility, leaving Lilly to cope with her sorrow on her own while waiting for his return. To complicate matters further, a starling bird seems intent on dominating Lilly’s garden, adding another layer of frustration to her already difficult situation. Recognizing that she needs assistance, Lilly seeks advice from a local veterinarian and former therapist, named Larry Fine (portrayed by Kevin Kline), as part of her journey towards acceptance not only of the pesky starling but also her own grief.

Critically Divisive

This film is ranked last on our list due to Olyphant’s limited screen time as Travis Delp, Lilly’s supermarket boss. Rest assured, he delivers an impressive performance, but the character lacks depth. Surprisingly, despite its star-studded cast, the movie received generally negative criticism from critics. Remarkably, it still receives positive feedback from viewers. If you’re seeking a film that tugs at your heartstrings, we recommend watching “The Starling“.

2
Terminator Zero

The animated production, titled “Terminator Zero,” blends elements of action, science fiction, and dystopian storytelling. Set in Tokyo during 1997, an artificially intelligent system called Kokoro (voiced by Rosario Dawson) is about to be released, aiming to rival Skynet. However, its creator, Malcolm Lee (voiced by André Holland), finds himself pursued by a robotic assassin. In this dire situation, he seeks assistance from Eiko (Sonoya Mizuno), a resistance fighter from the year 2022, in an attempt to halt Kokoro’s launch and secure a better future.

Another Villainous Performance

Terminator Zero is steering the franchise towards intriguing territory by introducing fresh characters and trying to connect the different films and shows. Timothy Olyphant provides the voice for the main character, Terminator, a robotic assassin set on annihilating Malcolm Lee and his family. Critics have been lauding the series as a whole while also singling out Olyphant’s performance as standout. It seems that the series has been confirmed for a second season, as hinted in an unintentional disclosure.

Additionally to his AI role, Olyphant is also preparing for another human-like character. The upcoming series, titled “Alien: Earth“, is set to debut on Hulu and Disney+ in the coming months. In this production, Olyphant will portray a synth, known as Kirsh.

1
Santa Clarita Diet

The ordinary couple Sheila (Drew Barrymore) and Joel Hammond (Timothy Olyphant) face an extraordinary predicament: after consuming contaminated clams, Sheila transforms into an Undead being with an insatiable hunger for human flesh. Confronted by Sheila’s volatile personality transformation and her new craving, the couple must devise a solution to appease Sheila while navigating through various challenges.

Meanwhile, they are pursued by the Zombie-hunting Knights of Serbia, struggle to maintain their real estate business, and strive to protect their daughter Abby from their perilous existence.

Sadly, the TV series “Santa Clarita Diet” didn’t continue beyond its third season, leaving a partially resolved plotline. Fans were left wanting more, as they missed out on the final chapter of this intriguing show. Yet, the episodes that were broadcasted showcased Tim Olyphant in one of his finest acting roles.

Other Horrifying Roles

In my opinion, although primarily humorous, the foundation of “Santa Clarita Diet” was downright chilling. Yet, this isn’t the first instance where Tim Olyphant has excelled in a spine-tingling performance. For one, he donned the Ghostface mask in “Scream 2,” and graced both “The Crazies” and Stephen King’s “Dreamcatcher” with leading roles. This underscores not only Olyphant’s versatility as an actor but also his remarkable talent, capable of shining in genres ranging from Westerns to dramas and comedies alike.

Although there are three Timothy Olyphant productions on Netflix at present, fans have something to look forward to. In the near future, he will be appearing alongside Anya Taylor-Joy in a TV adaptation of the novel “Lucky,” which will stream on Apple TV+. For those who want to enjoy both Timothy Olyphant and Netflix at once, the action film “Havoc” is slated for release this Spring. And if you’re just eager for more Netflix content, here are ten new and returning series that will be joining the platform in 2023.
