As a seasoned gamer of TV dramas with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that the anticipation for the return of Tracker is nothing short of electrifying! The reunion of Justin Hartley and Jensen Ackles has me buzzing like a kid on Christmas Eve. And let’s not forget the tantalizing appearance of Melissa Roxburgh as the mysterious Dory, adding even more layers to the Shaw family secrets.
The series “Tracker” was a surprise success during the early TV lineup of 2024, and CBS is capitalizing on this momentum by airing it earlier than planned this fall. In an unexpected move for Season 2, leading man Justin Hartley worked alongside former guest star and ex-cast member of “Supernatural,” Jensen Ackles, in an early episode to add depth to the ongoing mystery surrounding the Shaw family’s secrets. Hartley has shared some insights into what motivates Russell’s return to reconnect with his brother.
In his debut on “Tracker”, Jensen Ackles brought along several nods to “Supernatural” and provided some insights for Justin Hartley’s character, Colter. It seems that Russell wasn’t responsible for the death of their father as initially thought, but this discovery was soon overshadowed by a shocking reveal: their sister Dory knows more than she’s been letting on, as hinted when Melissa Roxburgh first appeared in the part. Hartley spoke to TV Insider about Ackles’ comeback, offering a sneak peek at what’s to come.
The situation primarily revolves around familial matters. Previously, we ended the first season with Colter harboring numerous unanswered questions. Now, he’s unsure of who to trust, given his past assumptions about his brother potentially being involved in their father’s demise. However, as the new season began, it was revealed that his brother might not have been implicated after all. Additionally, we’re puzzled as to why Dory is keeping such secrets?
Initially, Dory appeared to be the balanced Shaw sibling contrasting Russell and Colter. However, that perception might change in the near future, as Ackles is set to return alongside Hartley in the second episode of Season 2. Yet, remember this is ‘Tracker’, so new answers could possibly lead to even more questions. The actor further added:
In essence, Russell reappears and Colter queries him regarding the Dory matter, particularly the box she possesses. Does Russell know its whereabouts? Additionally, Russell exhibits heroic actions in Episode 2, leading them to an under-the-table, peculiar operation. Strangely, government officials start questioning about our father unexpectedly, causing confusion like “Whoa, what’s this all about?” Throughout each episode, Dad seems to be gradually proving himself or perhaps slipping further into insanity; we’re unsure. We delve a bit more into this mystery in every episode.
I’m thrilled to pass on some exciting news! It seems Melissa Roxburgh might rejoin us for the second season of Tracker, as production on her new series is wrapping up before ours. Moreover, Jennifer Morrison could be back behind the camera directing Episode 6, which could potentially bring her character from the Season 1 finale back into the mix at some point. If you haven’t already, don’t miss out on catching up with Season 1, available now with a Paramount+ subscription!
Initially, I had some doubts if Jensen Ackles would return as Russell in the next season due to his involvement in a new spinoff of The Boys. Yet, it appears those fears were unfounded, as he will indeed be back. Regrettably, the series Tracker is losing one of its regular cast members for Season 2, and it’s yet to be seen how they’ll address Teddi’s departure without actress Robin Weigert.
As a thrilled fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as I count down the days until we finally get to witness Season 2 of “Tracker”. The long-awaited premiere, following the Season 1 finale back in the spring, is set to air on CBS on Sunday, October 13 at 8 p.m. ET. This is much earlier than the initial plan for late October, and it even beats some of CBS’ other highly anticipated shows like “NCIS” and “FBI”. Can’t wait to tune in!
