Trials of Mana adds in controller support and achievements in surprise new update

  • Trials of Mana has received a suite of new additions with controller support and achievements
  • You’ll be able to use your gamepad of choice with the Apple Arcade and iOS versions
  • No word on Android yet, but could be incoming soon

Despite recently making significant advancements in mobile gaming, particularly through popular spin-offs of Final Fantasy 7, Square Enix has been around for quite some time. For instance, their 3D action RPG, Trials of Mana, has now gotten a much-desired update, which includes controller support and achievements for both the standard and Apple Arcade editions of this remake.

Given that Visions of Mana came out last year and is even working with Last Cloudia, this seems like an opportune moment for an update. However, the enthusiasm from fans suggests there might be a significant problem. It’s clear that many find the 3D controls in most mobile games a bit tricky to handle, if not downright frustrating, which may deter some players from enjoying the game.

It’s truly unfortunate that Square Enix’s Mana series hasn’t gained wider popularity among JRPG enthusiasts, especially those who have exhausted the Final Fantasy games and yearn for something fresh. Even though the touchpad controls work well enough for most players, they remain an obstacle for some fans who find them difficult to adapt to.

Self-control

If the recent update is indeed what entices some individuals to try out Trials of Mana, then that’s a positive development. Fortunately, Trials of Mana remains accessible in both its original and enhanced versions. Regrettably, Android users seem not to have received the same update. However, with its vivid graphics and familiar gameplay mechanics, those who have been hesitant to play Trials of Mana can now dive in and experience it with this latest improvement!
