As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for movies based on real-life characters and events, I can hardly contain my excitement over the upcoming biopic about Ann Lowe! The fact that this project is being spearheaded by none other than Serena Williams, Ruth Carter, and a team of talented writers and producers, makes it an absolute must-watch.
I’m thrilled to share that the trailblazing fashion designer, Ann Lowe, renowned as an American couturier, is set to have her story told through a biopic produced by TriStar Pictures. This exciting development is all thanks to tennis champion Serena Williams and Academy Award-winning costume designer Ruth Carter. I can hardly wait!
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Sony’s TriStar Pictures has picked up the concept for an upcoming film, titled “The Dress.” This movie tells the story of Lowe, a renowned yet enigmatic fashion designer from the mid-century. Despite being one of the most productive couturiers in America, Lowe remains relatively unknown.
The narrative spotlights the account of Lowe, an initial Black female proprietor of a store situated on Madison Avenue, being tasked with creating the bridal gown that Jackie Bouvier donned during her 1953 nuptials with John F. Kennedy.
Writers Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster, known for their work on the film “A Beautiful Day in The Neighborhood,” are set to write the script for the movie adaptation of the book “By Her Own Design” penned by Piper Huguley.
Williams and Caroline Currier are set to create films under their production company Nine Two Six Productions. Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster, on the other hand, will produce through their own company Blue Harp. Carter, who received two Oscars for costume design in ‘Black Panther’ and its sequel ‘Wakanda Forever’, will serve as executive producer and will also be responsible for the film’s costume design.
Shary Shirazi, responsible for the initial idea, is set to supervise at TriStar in collaboration with the studio’s president, Nicole Brown.
In 2023, Williams established Nine Two Six Productions, a company he is represented by WME and Foster Garvey PC. This production company was responsible for creating documentaries such as Copa 71 about women’s soccer and In The Arena: Serena Williams, which aired on ESPN+.
Fitzerman-Blue and Harpster, known for their work on “Transparent” and Netflix series “Painkiller”, are represented by United Talent Agency (UTA) and Kaplan/Perrone. They have also worked on film projects such as Disney’s movie “Maleficent” and the upcoming live-action adaptation of “Bambi”.
