TRM Labs appoints ex-Interpol president as senior advisor

TRM Labs, a company specialized in blockchain investigations, has brought on Board Hui Khoo as their new senior consultant.

On their blog on April 11, TRM Labs revealed the hiring of Boon Hui Khoo as senior advisor. This appointment represents TRM Labs’ strategy to expand its regulatory connections, with a focus on strengthening its presence in the Asia Pacific area.

At TRM Labs, Khoo will assist in combating fraud and financial crimes related to crypto, strengthening relationships with global regulatory bodies. TRM Labs CEO Esteban Castaño is confident in Khoo’s extensive experience, believing his valuable insights will enhance cooperation with law enforcement and regulatory allies in the Asia Pacific region.

In order to keep up with criminal innovation and advances, authorities worldwide need to consistently update their knowledge and skills.

Boon Hui Khoo

Before his involvement in the blockchain sector, Boon Hui Khoo held significant roles in law enforcement and international organizations. From 1997 to 2010, he served as Commissioner of Police in Singapore. Later, from 2008 to 2012, he presided over Interpol. Additionally, between 2017 and 2019, Khoo contributed as an independent commissioner on the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace, a public-private forum focusing on internet governance.

TRM Labs is following the lead of its major competitor, Chainalysis, by expanding their board of advisors. On April 8th, TRM Labs announced the appointment of Jim Lee as their new global head of capacity building, based in New York. In this role, Lee will reportedly assist international organizations in developing tactics to combat crypto-related illegal activities.
