As a Twihard since the early 2000s, I can hardly contain my excitement as the sun sets once again on Forks, Washington! It’s been over a decade since Edward and Bella’s love story left us spellbound, and I never thought we would see their tale retold in such an innovative way.
Excitingly, hang tight spider monkey, a fresh chapter in the Twilight series is now confirmed! Since it’s been over a decade since the original Twilight saga concluded, leaving fans in awe, we couldn’t help but wonder if Stephenie Meyer’s phenomenon would be revisited. Well, our prayers have been answered as the latest updates on the future of Twilight are more enticing than I imagined! However, there are some points that I’d love to discuss
Whoa, Midnight Sun Is Getting An Adaptation With Netflix
Previously this year, there was news about Lionsgate creating an animated Twilight series. However, fresh updates have surfaced. Take a look at this post from Netflix:
Previously, we were unaware of a couple of aspects. Firstly, we didn’t know Netflix was going to adapt the series, and secondly, we weren’t expecting that a new adaptation, “Midnight Sun” from 2020, would be the means for Twilight to make its comeback. According to Variety, this Netflix series is indeed the same one that Lionsgate has been working on. Stephenie Meyer will serve as an executive producer, and Sinead Daly, known for The Get Down, is writing the show
Will The Twilight Cast Reprise Their Roles?
Initially met with criticism upon release, the “Twilight” films are still considered among the top vampire movies ever made, leaving me wondering if any (or all) of the original cast might return to voice their characters or if Netflix will opt for a fresh start. Given that Kristen Stewart has recently committed to another vampire project, it seems plausible that she and Robert Pattinson would prefer handing over the roles to new actors. However, I can envision some of the other actors lending their voices once more to reprise their characters
Does This Mean We’ll Get Midnight Sun Sequels?
Initially, when I learned about a potential animated adaptation of the Twilight saga, I felt thrilled at the prospect of this captivating romance finding another way to share its tale, given the production challenges faced by the live-action films in adhering closely to the original novel. I envisioned the series following the books sequentially, albeit with fewer discrepancies compared to the differences between the Twilight movies and their source material
However, this is a new approach being taken here, as the Twilight series will finally bring one of Meyer’s books to life on screen for the first time. It makes me ponder if Meyer proposed her latest Twilight book for adaptation, and if she might now be motivated to revisit the entire series, this time from Edward Cullen’s point of view. After all, that’s what fans have been eagerly waiting for
Questions Aside, I’m Even More Excited For The Return Of Twilight Now
As an avid lover of the Twilight series over the years, I believe the return of Twilight is a brilliant decision. Although I enjoyed Bella’s narration, I find myself drawn even more to Edward’s perspective due to his unique status as a vampire with mind-reading abilities, particularly when it comes to his future-telling sister Alice Cullen. In many aspects, Midnight Sun surpasses Twilight for me, and I can’t wait to catch it on Netflix once it’s completed
