Twisted Metal Adds 3 New Cast Members For Season 2, Including The Walking Dead Fan Favorite

As a hardcore gamer with decades of gaming history under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming season 2 of Peacock’s Twisted Metal is shaping up to be an unparalleled post-apocalyptic rollercoaster ride! The addition of Michael James Shaw, Saylor Bell Curda, and Lisa Gilroy to the cast is a game-changer for sure. I can already see Shaw embodying the iconic Axel with his acting prowess from The Walking Dead.

Season 2 of Peacock’s Twisted Metal is shaping up to be one heck of a post-apocalyptic joy ride!

Peacock has revealed that it’s adding three new actors to its thrilling reinterpretation of the popular vehicle combat video game series, with Michael James Shaw being one. He played the main soldier Mercer in the final season of The Walking Dead, and now he will appear as a recurring guest star alongside Saylor Bell Curda from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and Lisa Gilroy, known for her role in Interior Chinatown.

Who are the new Twisted Metal cast members playing?

At the moment, it’s not clear which roles the new cast members will take on in the series, but Shaw could potentially be ideal for the part of Axel, a fearless driver known for having colossal monster truck tires as hands. During an interview with NBC Insider towards the end of last year, showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith hinted at the complexity of bringing Axel to life, expressing that getting both Axel and Sweet Tooth (the wicked clown character played by pro wrestler Samoa Joe and voiced by Will Arnett) right is crucial. He’s looking forward to unveiling these characters and revealing what makes them both humorous and heartbreaking. According to him, it promises to be an exciting journey exploring these personalities.

The showrunner also confirmed notable appearances from other iconic avatars featured in the original games like Dollface and Mr. Grimm, the latter of whom is Jonathan Smith’s personal favorite. “I’m excited to capture what the fans are excited about seeing, but also [to answer the question of]: ‘How does he exist in the world we’ve set up?'” he continued. “I think there’s just going to be a lot of fun with him — what kind of character he is in this world and how does he interact with people like Sweet Tooth?”

Previously this summer, it was announced that Anthony Carrigan (“Barry”), Richard de Klerk (“Strange Empire”), Patty Guggenheim (“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”), and Tiana Okoye (“Mrs. Davis”) are set to appear in the show. Notably, Carrigan will portray Calypso, the enigmatic character responsible for organizing the upcoming automotive competition alluded to in the Season 1 finale.

Indeed, Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz reprise their roles as the former reluctant allies turned lovers, John Doe and Quiet, respectively. Meanwhile, Samoa Joe and Arnett continue their partnership in Sweet Tooth’s storyline.

What is Twisted Metal about?

In an alternate version of reality where society fell apart around the year 2000, as depicted in the popular PlayStation series Twisted Metal, major cities fortified themselves from the rest of the nation. These urban areas relied on delivery drivers, or “Milkmen,” for supply transportation amidst the chaos. John Doe (Mackie), a top-tier driver, longs to settle down and leave his nomadic lifestyle behind. His wish is granted when the leader of New San Francisco, Raven (played by Neve Campbell), offers him a permanent home if he can retrieve an essential item from New Chicago. Along his perilous journey, he encounters various eccentric characters such as car thief Quiet (Beatriz), strict lawman Agent Stone (Thomas Haden Church), and the deranged Sweet Tooth (Samoa Joe and Arnett).
