Twisted Metal Season 2 Gets Huge Update From Star Anthony Mackie

As a die-hard fan of Twisted Metal since its inception, I eagerly await the return of this iconic series with bated breath! The post-apocalyptic wasteland, the eccentric characters, and the high-octane action have always captured my imagination, and the first season did not disappoint.

Despite no official announcement regarding the launch date for Season 2 of Twisted Metal, a recent update suggests that the series may be back sooner than we think. The action-packed show made its premiere on Peacock in mid-2023 to great acclaim and was promptly renewed for another season due to its popularity. Upon release, Twisted Metal claimed the title of Peacock’s most binge-watched original series ever, with many viewers finishing three episodes in a single sitting, while others watched the entire 10-episode run.

In the vein of the popular video game series titled “Twisted Metal,” Mackie plays the character John Doe. His mission is to transport a secret package through a devastated America after the apocalypse, with the assurance of a brighter future upon completion of his journey. En route, he encounters Quiet, portrayed by Beatriz, and they forge an unexpected alliance to combat bandits, corrupt ex-police officers, and a deranged clown personified by Samoa Joe from AEW, and voiced by Will Arnett from “Arrested Development.” With a 94% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s clear that “Twisted Metal” is one of the most successful video game adaptations in recent times.

What Can We Expect in Twisted Metal Season 2?

Although specifics about Twisted Metal Season 2 are still kept secret, hints can be found from the ending of Season 1 regarding its direction. At the conclusion of Season 1, John Doe refuses Neve Campbell’s (playing Raven) proposal to stay in New San Francisco and instead finds himself held at gunpoint by her, insisting he joins a forthcoming racing event organized by Calypso. The enigmatic antagonist will be played by Anthony Carrigan, best known for his roles in Barry, in Season 2.

From those occurrences, it’s clear that Season 2 of Twisted Metal aims to make the notorious titular tournament come alive on screen. However, we can only speculate about other aspects. It has been revealed that characters like Dollface, Axel, and Mr. Grimm will play significant roles in the second season, but the exact way they’ll intertwine with the main storyline is yet to be unveiled. We know that Dollface is Doe’s sister and currently holds Quiet captive, but her ultimate intentions beyond that are a mystery for now.

Without a shadow of a doubt, I’m positively thrilled about the upcoming season of Twisted Metal! The adrenaline-pumping action sequences in Season 1 were nothing short of spectacular, but I’ve got high hopes that Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Michael Jonathan Smith will outdo themselves in Season 2. With even more breathtaking set pieces, explosive collisions, and a fresh batch of villains, they’re bound to deepen our affection for this series, and if we’re lucky, pave the way for an exhilarating Season 3!
