Fans of Abbott Elementary don’t need to wait much longer to discover the fate of Quinta Brunson’s character, Janine, and Tyler James Williams’ character, Gregory, following the suspenseful conclusion of season three.

In the last scene of the previous episode, Gregory and Janine, who had been dancing around their feelings for quite some time, shared a deeply emotional kiss, signifying the progression of their long-standing will-they-won’t-they dynamic.

On a Friday evening, Williams dropped by both “The Hollywood Reporter” and SAG-AFTRA’s annual Emmys Nominees Night event. When queried about potential spoilers regarding their love story in season four, the Emmy-nominated actor for the popular ABC sitcom was rather tight-lipped about specifics but did offer a hint.

He assured THR that you’ll definitely find out about the situation with them in the first episode. He couldn’t guarantee a full stop since things aren’t usually that clear-cut, but he promised there will be a definitive answer. That’s certain. It airs on ABC on Oct. 9.

Just like many enthusiasts of the show, Williams too couldn’t help but exclaim, “At last!” upon his initial reading of Gregory and Janine’s kiss scene from the script of Abbott Elementary‘s season three finale.

At a certain stage, when you’re deeply immersed in a character, you start to experience the growing tension yourself. It was refreshing then, to say, ‘Let’s just go ahead and see where this leads,'” he noted, further explaining that the immediate plan was to figure out how their storyline would differ from all other will-they-won’t-they narratives in popular culture.

This year’s Emmy nomination of the actor is the third consecutive one for his portrayal of Gregory in Brunson’s renowned sitcom, and he openly stated that the acknowledgement remains as thrilling as the first time.

There’s an abundance of fantastic TV shows these days, so being nominated, recognized, and celebrated is always particularly meaningful,” he expressed. “Moreover, since everyone is busy all year round and rarely get to meet each other, it’s a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues.

Apart from William’s nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy, Abbott Elementary also received recognition in several other categories at the Emmys. The show was nominated for Best Comedy Series, Best Actress in a Comedy Series, and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Additionally, it earned nominations for Directing and Writing in a Comedy, as well as a few others.

The Emmy Awards of 2024, led by hosts Eugene and Dan Levy, will be broadcast on ABC on Sunday, September 15th, from 5 to 8 PM Pacific Time (PT) or 8 PM to 11 PM Eastern Time (ET).
