The Tyler Perry-created drama Beauty in Black is getting a second season.
On Wednesday, the streamer officially confirmed the series renewal, six days following the premiere of the second half of its first season. This fresh installment brought “Beauty in Black” back to Netflix’s global top 10 for the week of March 3-9, after part one (released in October 2024) had held a spot on that list for four consecutive weeks.
Black Beauty” revolves around Kimmie, portrayed by Taylor Polidore Williams, a dancer who unwittingly gets involved with a cosmetics-magnate family and their illicit human trafficking operations.
At the conclusion of the first season, we kept viewers guessing, and we’re excited to carry on Kimmie’s tale as she assumes her role within the Bellaire family,” Perry stated. “Kimmie represents the indomitable spirit of never writing off the underdog, and I can hardly wait for fans to follow along with her story further. If you thought season one was a rollercoaster ride, you’re in for an even wilder adventure in season two.
On Wednesday, it turned out to be a favorable day for Perry. His popular BET series, titled “Sistas“, was also given the green light for its ninth consecutive season.
Additionally, in the cast of “Beauty in Black” alongside Williams, you’ll find Crystle Stewart, Amber Reign Smith, Ricco Ross, Debbi Morgan, Richard Lawson, Steven G. Norfleet, Julian Horton, Terrell Carter, Shannon Wallace, Bryan Tanaka, Joy Rovaris, Xavier Smalls, Charles Malik Whitfield, Tamera “Tee” Kissen, Ursula O. Robinson, Ashley Versher, George Middlebrook, and Ts Madison.
Perry is responsible for writing, directing, and producing the series. Additionally, Angi Bones and Tony Strickland contribute as producers, working under Tyler Perry Studios.
