As a long-time fan of Tyler, the Creator, witnessing his unstoppable climb to chart success never fails to fill me with awe and admiration. From his humble beginnings as the eccentric, DIY rapper from California, to now dominating the Billboard 200 with his latest masterpiece, CHROMAKOPIA, it’s clear that Tyler has defied all odds and proven once again why he is an unparalleled force in music.
Tyler, the Creator is opening at No. 1 on this week’s Billboard 200 with CHROMAKOPIA.
In its first week, the artist’s newest studio creation, titled CHROMAKOPIA, amassed a grand total of 299,500 units, marking his highest unit sales week to date. This total comprises 157,000 streaming equivalent album units (a staggering 212.55 million on-demand streams across the 14 tracks), 142,000 in album sales, and 500 track equivalent album units. CHROMAKOPIA earns the artist his third No. 1 album, best streaming week, best vinyl week, and the third-largest debut week on vinyl for a rap album in history.
Beyond achieving a hit first impression with Chromakopia, it also claimed the top spot on both the Top Streaming Albums and Top Album Sales charts upon release. To add to this success, the album managed to debut at No. 1 despite having only four days of activity in its tracking week because it was launched midweek instead of the typical Friday.
Additionally this week, Halsey’s “The Great Impersonator” enters the chart at the second spot with 93,000 equivalent album units, while Kelsea Ballerini’s “Patterns” debuts at No. 4 with 54,000 equivalent album units.
This week’s top 10 list also features Sabrina Carpenter in third place, Rod Wave in fifth, Eminem in sixth, Gracie Abrams in seventh, Morgan Wallen in eighth, Billie Eilish in ninth, and GloRilla taking the tenth spot.
