As a dedicated gamer and streetwear enthusiast, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by UNDEFEATED’s latest venture into the world of sports and community building. Having grown up playing basketball in my neighborhood court and practicing martial arts in my garage, this new Sports Center and Chapter Store concept resonates deeply with me.
Following the debut of its initial East Coast store in New York City last autumn, UNDEFEATED remains committed to expanding its physical presence. This California-originated streetwear label has recently unveiled plans to open a fresh flagship store in China.
In the heart of Qinhuangdao city’s leisure town Aranya, approximately a two-hour journey from Beijing, you’ll find our store. Though UNDEFEATED, the shop we’re renowned for, offers an impressive selection of sneakers and clothing, the main attraction is something new: an innovative Sports Center.
As a passionate fan, I’d describe it this way: The Center is my beloved sanctuary, meticulously designed with four primary zones: a basketball court where I hone my skills, a training area for honing my body and mind, a swimming pool to refresh and rejuvenate, and a combat room for mastering martial arts. Led by the brilliant architects Liu Kenan from Atelier XÜK and Liu Xiangbo of Link Architects, this facility was thoughtfully crafted with the organization of port cities’ shipyards in mind – neatly compartmentalized into distinct sections for an optimally functional experience.
The outside showcases roughness with a concrete patio and lattice-patterned glass facade, while the interior of the Center emphasizes coziness with wooden and stone decorations. The Chapter Shop embodies this design concept as well, featuring a stone canopy.
Xiangbo explained that our design approach aims for simplicity and durability, all while infusing the store with athletic influences.
Due to UNDEFEATED’s unwavering dedication to community and athletics, the Sports Center is now operational and will majorly cater to strength training, jiu-jitsu, and basketball. To celebrate its inauguration, James Bond and Eric Chang, as co-owners of the brand, organized a jiu-jitsu workshop. Renowned sixth-degree black belt Chris Haueter led this event.
The “UNDEFEATED” Sports Center and Bookstore are located at No. 7-5, Binhe Commercial Street, on Binhai New Road (Phase IX), in Changli County of Qinhuangdao City.
