It was surprising to find out that unicorns possess the fangs of a tiger; A24 is renowned for thinking beyond conventional ideas and approving unusual productions. Yet, even the most imaginative viewers wouldn’t have foreseen that this studio would produce a film featuring the enchanting creatures from children’s stories as ruthless slayers when provoked. In the upcoming comedy-thriller-horror fusion titled Death of a Unicorn, an ensemble cast headed by Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega uncovers that unicorns do exist, and they will indeed seek to harm you if you upset them. The latest teaser trailer leaves no doubt that these are not the gentle unicorns you remember from your childhood.
The initial trailer for “Death of a Unicorn” effectively established its humorous and suspenseful tone. However, the latest preview gives viewers a glimpse into just how ominous the storyline will become. The duo of Rudd and Ortega, portrayed as cautious and perhaps morally conscious father and daughter, contrasts starkly with the ruthless and arguably dim-witted billionaire character played by Richard E. Grant. This new trailer provides a clearer understanding of their intriguing dynamic. Although they initially strike a unicorn with their car, it’s their subsequent actions – transporting the injured creature to a wilderness retreat run by a pharmaceutical CEO – that truly sets off a chain of events.
Unicorns Take No Prisoners, and Neither Does A24
A24 is currently ruling the independent film world with a diverse range of genres mastered to perfection. The upcoming film “Death of a Unicorn” is just one example of at least nine more promising titles from A24, each appearing to deliver a powerful punch. Although it’s unusual for an A24 film not to perform well, the impressive lineup of stars and concepts in their upcoming projects makes them all appear as strong contenders for success.
Standing out on the list is the captivating “The Legend of Ochi,” set to be released on April 25. Hot on its heels comes “Friendship,” a fresh comedy from Andrew DeYoung featuring Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson, due out May 9. Exciting movies like “On Becoming a Guinea Fowl” starring Susan Chardy and “Marty Supreme” with Timothée Chalamet will keep audiences engaged until the end of the year with release dates of October 3 and December 25 respectively. As is often the case, it seems A24 is in store for another banner year.
