In a few short months, one of the most thrilling days in the history of theme parks will be here, as Universal Orlando’s latest park, Epic Universe, is set to open. Yet, not all areas within the park are biding their time for opening day to start earning revenue. If you happen to visit Epic Universe right now, you can already find one establishment: Starbucks.
In an endearing gesture, Universal Orlando Resort has disclosed (through Blog Mickey) that the Starbucks at Epic Universe, nestled within the Celestial Gardens section of the park, is now operational. This establishment is intended to cater exclusively to Universal Team Members who are diligently working to complete the park before its scheduled opening on May 22. While theme park Starbucks prices tend to be slightly higher than standard stores, Team Members typically receive discounts, ensuring a fair trade-off.
Starbucks Opening At Epic Universe Is A Significant Step Forward
Although the establishment of a Starbucks in Epic Universe might not seem groundbreaking, it’s still a significant event. Nowadays, many major theme parks have just as many Starbucks outlets as other parts of the world. In fact, you can find a Starbucks within Disney and Universal parks, not only at their entrance but also in their shopping and dining areas such as Disney Springs and Universal CityWalk.
Indeed, it’s worth noting that all those spots were established following the initial opening of the park. Moreover, this particular Starbucks is scheduled to debut simultaneously with the park, marking a significant milestone for the Starbucks brand.
The coffee shop’s debut is significant since it marks the first spot in Epic Universe that’s prepared for guests to visit. Although it’s less than three months until Epic Universe officially opens, photos taken from above suggest that a lot more work needs to be done before the entire park is completed.
Epic Universe Is Reportedly Close To Its First Previews
Although Epic Universe isn’t completely ready for public use just yet, it seems to be on the verge of being operational. A fresh report from Blog Mickey hints that the park might soon be handed over to Park Operations, and it’s possible that team member previews could commence as soon as next week.
Initially, sneak peeks are expected to begin modestly, allowing each separate land to be previewed before a complete park tour. The Epic Universe is set to house themed areas based on “How To Train Your Dragon”, Universal Monsters, Super Nintendo World, and an additional Wizarding World of Harry Potter that encompasses both the Harry Potter films and the Fantastic Beasts series. Given the large number of employees who might want a sneak peek, this phase could extend for quite a while.
Annual Passholders at Universal Orlando will have an opportunity to get a sneak peek of Epic Universe, but the exact dates for these events are yet to be announced. These previews will likely take place closer to when the park officially opens. Given the large number of people interested in previewing the park, including Team Members, Annual Passholders, media, VIPs, and more, these previews could span over several months.
