In Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll find a diverse array of unique monsters to pursue and defeat, each demanding distinct tactics and character configurations to enhance the battle. Though numerous strategies and resources are at your disposal during any confrontation, focusing on exploiting their vulnerabilities is crucial for success.
When attacking a monster, striking its vulnerable spot will cause yellow numbers to appear, inflicting more damage than regular gray numbers. Identifying and targeting a monster’s weak point is essential, and the Weakness Exploit skill significantly enhances this by boosting the damage dealt to these areas. Here’s a breakdown of how it functions.
What Are Weaknesses & How To Check Them In Monster Hunter Wilds
As a dedicated game enthusiast, I’d like to clarify the concept of ‘Weakness Exploit’. In the context of our game, a weakness isn’t just about employing the right tactic against a certain monster. Instead, it refers to a specific, unarmored part of a monster that absorbs more damage. This vulnerable spot will be marked as weak in your game manual. Striking this weakness will cause yellow damage numbers to appear, though these can also manifest when attacking a breakable body part.
Instead of blindly assaulting a monster, hoping to strike its vulnerability, you can consult the Large Monster Field Guide in the main menu for detailed information. By hovering over a specific monster, navigate to the second page dedicated to it to identify which body part is weak. During combat with the monster, focus on attacking these identified weak points to inflict maximum damage and potentially detach the body parts listed on that same page as well.
Just about any part of a monster can be wounded, which leads to dark orange damage numbers.
How Does Weakness Exploit Work In Monster Hunter Wilds
In simpler terms, Weakness Exploit is a feature that increases the chances of causing more damage when you hit an enemy’s weak spot or open wound. This is similar to a critical hit in other games. When you successfully land a critical strike, a small pink star icon will appear next to the damage number. Essentially, Weakness Exploit enhances your overall damage output by boosting your chances of causing critical strikes when attacking strategically.
There are five levels for Weakness Exploit:
Skill Level | Effects |
---|---|
Level 1 | Attacks that hit weak points gain affinity +5%, or 8% on wounds. |
Level 2 | Attacks that hit weak points gain affinity +10%, or 15% on wounds. |
Level 3 | Attacks that hit weak points gain affinity +15%, or 25% on wounds. |
Level 4 | Attacks that hit weak points gain affinity +20%, or 35% on wounds. |
Level 5 | Attacks that hit weak points gain affinity +30%, or 50% on wounds. |
