The Resort Featured in ‘The White Lotus’ Is Real & Ready to Visit
As a movie buff who’s always on the lookout for stunning filming locations, let me tell you that the breathtaking tropical paradise from The White Lotus Season 3 is not just a figment of our imagination – it’s real and you can visit! We’re talking about the Four Seasons Koh Samui, nestled off the coast of Thailand. Although various resorts were employed to construct the fictional White Lotus Thailand, the captivating scenes you see are primarily from this luxurious haven boasting an unparalleled mix of elegance and charm. Just like its predecessors, the third season of this critically-acclaimed satirical dramedy chose to partner with the renowned Four Seasons chain of hotels. This isn’t their first dance together – they’ve also collaborated for The White Lotus filming at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea in Hawaii and San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Sicily.
Apart from filming at the Four Seasons Koh Samui, the latest season was also filmed at Rosewood Phuket, Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, and Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort. Creator/showrunner Mike White and producers aimed to create a seamless and stunning backdrop by incorporating these hotels into the series. Although the Four Seasons was breathtaking with its array of villas and pristine beaches, it wasn’t able to provide everything the series required. To fill in the gaps, they explored other locations to capture additional footage. Executive producer David Bernard shared this information with People.
The Four Seasons Koh Samui is an exceptional holiday spot, but it lacked specific elements essential for our visual production. To compensate, we incorporated some aspects of our show using the spa at Anantara Phuket. Unfortunately, at night, we couldn’t film the restaurant area due to darkness, so all dinner scenes were shot at Rosewood in Phuket instead.
At the Four Seasons Koh Samui, each guest can enjoy private villas equipped with their own pools and beach access, as well as the stunning vistas of the ocean from the Koh Thai Kitchen & Bar and the tranquil Secret Garden Spa. This luxurious resort promises an exceptional, unforgettable experience for its guests, albeit at a higher price point. Notably, this starts at $2,441 from February 16-17, following the captivating debut of “The White Lotus.” A representative from Four Seasons Resorts Thailand mentioned that the recent season of this popular series has significantly increased curiosity about the resort and sparked a fresh wave of luxury travelers inspired by the show.
Although our primary clients continue to be wealthy travelers, honeymooners, and health enthusiasts, we’ve noticed a surge in reservations from visitors yearning for the grandeur depicted in the popular series.
The Sensational Series Continues to Dazzle & Delight Fans
The newest addition to the popular streaming show boasts an assorted group of A-list actors such as Walton Goggins, Leslie Bibb, Jason Issacs, and Parker Posey. Similar to past seasons, it’s holding viewers captivated with its gripping acting, intriguing whodunit plot, and exceptional scriptwriting. So far, the third season has received rave reviews, with a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive 98% rating on Popcornmeter. This makes it the most critically and audience-adored version of the show to date.
Originally planned as a six-episode limited series when it debuted in 2021, the captivating show The White Lotus garnered extraordinary ratings and widespread praise. This led HBO to extend it into an anthology series, setting the stage for more mesmerizing seasons ahead. The witty blend of drama and comedy was recognized among the best television programs of both 2021 and 2022 by the American Film Institute. In their glowing review, Rolling Stone aptly described the essence and allure of The White Lotus, stating, “It’s often uncomfortable, sometimes poetic, occasionally humorous, and consistently unique.
