As a huge fan of Jenna Ortega‘s acting abilities and her captivating roles, I’m beyond excited for what’s coming next in her career! With her starring role as Klara, the AI friend in “Klara and the Sun,” alongside Amy Adams, I can’t wait to see how she brings this unique character to life. And with a fantastic cast including Natasha Lyonne, Simon Baker, Mia Tharia, and Aran Murphy, this film is definitely one to look out for.
You know her, and you probably love her – Jenna Ortega has plenty of movies coming up.
Over the past few years, Jenna Ortega has become a well-known figure in the social media world. You may have come across her acting in films like “Scream” or seen her memorable dance as Wednesday, making it likely that she has appeared on your feed at some point.
Ortega was originally slated for the upcoming “Scream” film, but unfortunately had to withdraw due to conflicting schedules. Yet, there’s much to look forward to as she has numerous movies and TV projects in the pipeline. Here’s a sneak peek into what’s next for Ortega’s career.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (September 6, 2024)
The excitement for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” has been building ever since the announcement of its release. This much-anticipated sequel to the classic 1980s film is once again helmed by Tim Burton in the director’s chair. Keaton and Ryder reprise their roles, with an added cast member, Jenna Ortega, who plays Astrid, Lydia’s (Ryder) daughter.
In addition to Catherine O’Hara (reappearing), Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, and Burn Gorman, the star-studded cast of “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” includes other noteworthy actors. You can watch the trailer featuring them all here:
In an interview with Vanity Fair conducted in February 2024, Ortega described Astrid as unconventional in a manner that goes beyond the typical perception.
I’ve had the unique experience of growing up with a mother like Lydia Deetz from “Beetlejuice.” It wasn’t all sunshine and roses, that’s for sure. At first glance, she may seem quirky or even strange, but her oddities are unlike anything you might assume.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice releases on September 6, 2024, as part of the 2024 movie schedule.
Klara And The Sun (2024)
Coming next on Ortega’s movie roster is “Klara and the Sun.” This film, set to hit theaters based on the 2021 novel by the same name, will see Ortega and Amy Adams collaborate under Taika Waititi’s direction. Deadline announced in February 2024 that this adaptation of “Klara and the Sun” would feature Ortega prominently.
In the tale, Ortega takes on the role of Klara, a sophisticated AI designed to combat solitude. This narrative introduces Klara as a new acquisition by Adams, a mother, for her adolescent daughter Josie. They engage in heartfelt conversations about the beauty and essence of “human affection.”
As an assistant to a movie fan, I’d put it this way: I was thrilled to learn that not only the lead actors but also some other big names had joined the cast. According to Deadline, Natasha Lyonne and Simon Baker have officially signed on, while Mia Tharia and Aran Murphy are reportedly in negotiations for the film.
Based on the article about Lyonne and Baker’s film “3000 Pictures,” it’s anticipated to have a theatrical premiere in fall 2024. So, be sure to look out for this intriguing production in the near future.
Wednesday Season 2 (2025)
By now, you shouldn’t be surprised. Way back in 2023, it wasn’t surprising that Wednesday was renewed for a second season. The show set numerous records, became an addictive Netflix series to watch, and boasted an impressive cast, with Jenna Ortega shining as the brilliant lead.
In my opinion, Ortega’s portrayal of Wednesday in “The Addams Family” significantly influenced my generation and the one following, shaping our collective anticipation for the character’s return in Netflix’s “Wednesday” Season 2. Although production was temporarily delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, filming started in May 2024 as confirmed by the actress through her Instagram post featuring her costume and the announcement of the shoot’s commencement.

For some time now, there have been plans underway for the second season of “Wednesday.” There’s already a lot of buzz surrounding it, though the specific plot remains a mystery. According to Deadline’s report from February 2024, we can expect the release of “Wednesday” Season 2 in the year 2025.
Death Of A Unicorn (TBA)
An upcoming movie in which Ortega is set to act is called “Death of a Unicorn.” According to The Budapest Reporter from May 2023, this film, produced by A24, will feature both Ortega and Paul Rudd. Later in November 2023, Deadline confirmed that production on the movie had been completed.
The film features an extensive ensemble of famous actors besides Ortega and Rudd, such as Anthony Carrigan, Will Poulter, Sunita Mani, Richard E. Grant, among others. Principal photography took place during the summer of 2023 due to a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement. The plot revolves around a father-daughter team who face the repercussions after unintentionally slaying a unicorn. Alex Scharfman helms the project in his first directorial role.
Although the idea might seem odd at first, having Rudd and Ortega share the lead roles is actually a brilliant choice for this upcoming movie. No definite release date has been announced as of now, but given that filming has already been completed, I believe it won’t be long before we get to see it. Moreover, since this production is being handled by A24 – known for producing exceptional films – I have high expectations for its quality.
Untitled Trey Edward Shults Film (TBA)
Ortega is expected to be involved in some capacity in an upcoming film by Trey Edward Shults, yet to be named. According to Deadline’s report from February 2023, she will join The Weeknd (music artist) and Barry Keoghan on the project as co-stars.
Trey Edward Shults is the creative force behind the horror film “It Comes At Night,” the drama “Waves,” and the movie “Krisha.” Since this announcement, there’s been little information regarding the new project. Yet, it doesn’t indicate a dead end; considering the immense workloads of these three individuals, scheduling conflicts might be the cause for the quiet on this front.
Regardless of its name, the upcoming movie still lacks an announced release date, so we can only be patient and look forward to further information.
Which aspect of Jenna Ortega’s upcoming projects are you most looking forward to? Personally, I can’t wait to feel the sadness once again with the second season of “Wednesday”.
