United Talent Agency (UTA), a worldwide leader in talent management, entertainment, sports, and advisory services, has named partner Darnell Strom as the head of their U.K. office based in London. With a background in politics, including previous collaborations with Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, Strom has made significant contributions to UTA’s global strategy, working across various business sectors and representing high-profile clients such as Malala Yousafzai, Michaela Coel, Grace Wales Bonner, Jonathan Anderson, i-D Magazine, BBC/HBO hit series Industry‘s creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, Jon Batiste, Karlie Kloss, Jose Andres, Whitney Wolfe Herd, Alexis Ohanian, and many others.
Relocating from Los Angeles to London, “Strom will manage UTA’s comprehensive UK business and future growth into significant markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa,” as stated by the company. The newly established position signifies UTA’s aspiration to transform London into a significant international base for the company, building upon its decision to establish a new office in London in 2023, following the acquisition of literary powerhouse Curtis Brown, ROOF Football Agency, and consultancy firm MediaLink.
According to the statement, Storm possesses a wealth of experience from his time at UTA, as well as broad knowledge that transcends various disciplines. Additionally, he has established connections with clients worldwide in entertainment, fashion/luxury, sports, and media. The firm indicated that his leadership role will emphasize enhancing the connectivity and cohesion across UTA’s European divisions, identifying fresh business prospects, and fostering growth within the region.
David Kramer, CEO of UTA, stated: “This is an exhilarating new stage for UTA. Darnell, who has always bridged divisions between departments, industries, and locations, is perfectly positioned due to his extensive connections and creative insight to oversee our upcoming international growth.
Strom expressed that London is “one of the most vibrant and innovative markets globally, and UTA has merely touched upon its full potential.” He further stated, “I’m privileged to guide our next wave of expansion alongside the exceptional team we have in London, working towards a stronger and more interconnected UTA, not just in London, but across Europe and beyond.
In 2019, Strom became a part of UTA, where he had previously held the position of culture & commerce head. Now, in his new role, he’ll be working hand-in-hand with UTA’s London teams from various departments such as music, creators, brand marketing, comedy, production arts, and advisory services. This collaboration also extends to Curtis Brown Group and ROOF Football Agency.
Initially, Strom embarked on a path that encompassed politics, philanthropy, and social innovation. He held the position of director in the chairman’s office during the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Afterward, he was appointed as Florida Director of Operations for John Kerry’s presidential bid. In the year 2005, Strom worked as a deputy scheduler for former President Bill Clinton and later developed a program called the Clinton Foundation Millennium Network, which embodied Clinton’s aspiration to foster future leaders. Later on, he was part of President Barack Obama’s White House Entertainment Council.
