Valorant Ranked Rollback Goes Live In 10.05 Patch, but There’s a Catch

VALORANT is a first-person shooting game that offers endless entertainment for you and your friends, provided you manage to avoid getting frustrated. While some players prefer the laid-back atmosphere of Unrated games, others strive to join Premier matches with their team, and there are those who relish the competitive struggle to attain the highest rank possible in each episode and act.

During play, the game offers enjoyable moments, yet sometimes becomes aggravating due to an abundance of cheaters some players might stumble upon in their gaming sessions. Earlier updates featured a simple “Cheater Detected” red screen appearing sporadically throughout the game whenever a cheater was present in the lobby. Despite my rare encounters with this screen since launch, it’s comforting to know that these individuals can be identified.

VALORANT released their patch notes for 10.05 on March 18. There were a lot of bug fixes for many of the agents, maps such as Breeze, and other aspects of the game such as the scores not updating in the friends list. The main highlight and what got most players excited would be the Ranked Rollbacks. However, there is a catch.

Ranked Rollback reimburses players their RR points if they’ve lost a game to someone identified as a cheater during the previous week. A message appears on the screen, clearly displaying the total RR refund amount, if the individual is confirmed as a cheater.

To get this update reflected in your Current Ranked Rating (RR), you must first engage in a Competitive game. The outcome of this Ranked match, be it victory or defeat, won’t influence the application of the refund. Instead, the adjustment will immediately take effect on your total RR once the game is over.

Each Act has a set maximum or limit for the refund of RR (Resource Points). As someone who plays the game myself, I appreciate that steps are being taken to address the issue of cheating. Previously, we didn’t receive any RR rollbacks when we encountered cheaters, so this is a significant improvement.

Despite some players feeling disgruntled and advocating for no limit at all, the current cap has led to a situation where players lose RR again when they lose against suspected cheaters. This is far from perfect because even if we don’t see the “Cheater Detected” message, there are individuals who exploit the system with cheats.

The Ranked Rollback feature remains a commendable addition, as it addresses a request from players that was made previously. Now available in the 10.05 update, the Riot Games team can make necessary improvements if any adjustments are required.
