As a die-hard fan of NCIS: Hawai’i, I find myself still longing for the days when Special Agent Jane Tennant graced our screens every Monday night. The cancellation of the show in 2024 was a hard pill to swallow, but Vanessa Lachey‘s recent Instagram post about a fan survey has rekindled my hope that there might be a chance for its return someday.
Despite NCIS: Hawai’i being among the shows that were canceled in 2024, its audience as a whole hasn’t fully come to terms with this decision and have been advocating for Vanessa Lachey’s character, Special Agent Jane Tennant, to make a comeback. And following the crime drama spinoff’s victory in a fan poll, Lachey expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards those who continue to show support.
The Dancing with the Stars vet took to the Stories on her Instagram page to socially frolic amongst the positive fan vibes and reflect that love back on everyone who have strongly missed seeing NCIS: Hawai’i on Monday nights since its cancellation in the spring. She shared a story about a survey hosted by The U.S. Mirror, which asked NCIS fans what their favorite spinoff is.
Here’s what the results were, according to the outlet:
- NCIS: Hawai’i: 63%
- NCIS: Los Angeles: 28%
- NCIS: New Orleans: 8%
Independent of the sample size, it’s a truly remarkable win for NCIS: Hawai’i, significantly surpassing the viewership of the long-running spinoff based in L.A.. It’s possible that the beach-themed sequel drew some viewers away from Los Angeles‘s fanbase just by adding LL Cool J to its cast for its third and final season.
Lachey, who had been taken aback by the unexpected cancellation, expressed his affection on Instagram by penning this caption alongside a tale based on the fan survey findings.
BEST fans in the WORLD!!! I ❤️ U!
After appearing online initially, fans swiftly began spreading the survey across social media platforms, with the primary goal that CBS would notice the attempts by ex-viewers to revive Hawai’i on television in any feasible manner. Unfortunately, it won’t be part of the 2024 TV schedule, and even the 2025 TV premieres appear to be a questionable prospect to look forward to. However, it doesn’t seem entirely out of reach.
Despite not being canceled due to poor ratings or internal issues, the main obstacle for NCIS: Hawai’i was CBS having a full slate of Fall TV shows, including the prequel series NCIS: Origins. If CBS schedule managers don’t overcrowd primetime at some point in the future, there might be an opportunity for a comeback to the Hawaiian field office.
It’s yet to be determined if viewers will embrace the international spinoff series starring Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, titled Tony and Ziva. Will it capture the number one position among favorites, or will NCIS: Hawai’i, led by Lachey, maintain its dominance?
It seems that Vanessa Lachey might not be gracing the Hawaiian sunshine as Jane Tennant for a while, but fans can look forward to her appearance on television once more. This will happen when the upcoming season of The Ultimatum airs on Netflix’s 2024 schedule, starting from Wednesday, December 4.
