Vanna White Was “Very Scared” of Whether She and Ryan Seacrest Would Have Chemistry on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

As a gamer who has been following Wheel of Fortune since its early days, I must admit that the change from Pat Sajak to Ryan Seacrest was initially unsettling. After all, Sajak and Vanna White have been a staple in my evenings for nearly four decades, their chemistry undeniable and comforting. However, after seeing them travel together and get to know each other better, I can confidently say that Seacrest is doing a fantastic job. He’s managing to keep the magic of Wheel of Fortune alive, albeit with a fresh, modern twist.

Vanna White is reminiscing about working alongside Ryan Seacrest on ‘Wheel of Fortune’ following Pat Sajak’s retirement.

During an interview on CBS Sunday Mornings, the longtime host of a popular game show expressed feeling apprehensive when Seacrest took over hosting duties due to her extensive history working with Sajak. White and Sajak have been co-hosting the syndicated Wheel of Fortune since its debut in 1983, making them the longest-running game show hosts on American television.

White stated that he feels they have a good working relationship, “Our chemistry seems to be good.” He admitted that he wasn’t sure what to anticipate since he had been accustomed to working with only one person for so long. However, he was very anxious about the change but is impressed with Seacrest’s performance.

For about twenty years, I’ve been acquainted with Ryan, but it was only within the last couple of months that we traveled together for our show, which allowed us to deepen our friendship.

In June 2023, it was revealed that Sajak would be stepping down from his role as host of the long-running game show “Wheel of Fortune” following a remarkable 41-season tenure.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” Sajak wrote in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) at the time. “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)”

Seacrest was officially named as Sajak’s successor, securing a multi-year contract to lead the popular and enduring program.

“I’m deeply honored to follow in the footsteps of the renowned Pat Sajak. Just like millions of Americans, I’ve cherished watching Pat and Vanna on our TV screens for an astonishing 40 years, bringing smiles to our faces each evening and making us feel comfortable with their company,” Seacrest expressed in a statement after the news was announced.

The radio host commented, “Pat, I’ve admired how you’ve consistently cheered on contestants and made home viewers feel comfortable. I’m excited to absorb as much knowledge from you during this period… I can hardly wait to carry on the tradition of spinning the wheel and collaborating with the exceptional Vanna White.”

In the meantime, White has agreed to an extended two-year contract, keeping him on as co-host for the syndicated game show up until the 2025-26 season.
