As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for cinematic trends and a deep appreciation for the art of storytelling, I am thrilled about the upcoming Indian installment of Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. With their charismatic personas and impressive acting chops, these two powerhouses are destined to light up our screens in this high-octane action thriller.

Today in Mumbai, a preview of the Indian adaptation of Citadel called Citadel: Honey Bunny, produced by the Russo Brothers and starring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, was debuted. At the event, Varun openly admitted that he’d been hoping to work with Samantha, praising her for her mesmerizing performance in Makkhi as the reason for his admiration.

At the premiere of the Honey Bunny trailer, Varun Dhawan shared how he managed to secure a role in the film. He disclosed that after being enthralled by Seasons 1 and 2 of The Family Man, which starred Samantha Ruth Prabhu, he felt an intense burst of creativity. One night, he picked up the phone and contacted D.K. to discuss action scenes and express his enthusiasm for exploring this genre. He mentioned that he hadn’t had many chances in the past to demonstrate his action abilities.

He continued to express that although he hadn’t anticipated receiving certain bits of information then, he got some thrilling news instead. It turned out that a project was in development with the Russo brothers, and this discovery greatly increased his excitement. The thought of the Russo brothers collaborating with Raj and D.K. seemed momentous to him, suggesting a significant global impact. After speaking with Raj, he became invigorated by the potential creative avenues for his character, understanding that there were numerous paths they could explore in the story.

He expressed that he was genuinely hoping Samantha would be cast as his co-star. “In my heart, honestly, I was manifesting and hoping that Samantha will be the actor they want with me in this.”  Having recently watched Family Man 2 and previously becoming a fan after seeing Makkhi, he felt that everything fell perfectly into place.

The idea of working alongside her excited him, and he believed it was meant to be. He concluded, “I was a fan when I saw Makkhi. So I think everything just came together.”

On October 15th, 2024, the creators of Citadel: Honey Bunny revealed their trailer online. This 2-minute, 51-second video gives us a glimpse into an exciting world of spying and deceit, where stuntman Bunny and actress Honey, who are struggling to make ends meet, find themselves in situations where they must confront each other, yet also work together.

In a heartfelt conversation, Honey shares tales of her past as an undercover agent to her daughter, Nadia. We see glimpses of her being enlisted by Bunny into a clandestine organization dedicated to upholding worldwide tranquility. Their journeys separate during a mission, but fate brings them back together after many years. The trailer is brimming with witty humor and stylish action sequences, showcasing thrilling car chases accompanied by the famous tune Aaj Ki Raat from Don. Notably, Nadia’s name mirrors that of Priyanka Chopra’s character from the 2021 British version of Citadel.
