As an ardent fan of Bollywood, I’ve been eagerly awaiting Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film, Baby John. The anticipation is palpable, and the trailer has only fueled my excitement. However, there have been whispers about it being a remake of Theri, a Tamil blockbuster.

Varun Dhawan is now getting ready for the launch of his eagerly-awaited movie, Baby John. The excitement surrounding Kalees’ direction is soaring high. However, there have been whispers that this action-packed film is a Tamil hit Theri’s reinterpretation rather than a direct remake. Lately, Varun has made it clear that it is more of an ‘adaptation’ instead of a ‘word-for-word remake.’

During a recent press event, Varun Dhawan addressed speculations around his upcoming film, Baby John being a remake of the Tamil film, Theri. The actor explained that there was a reason Atlee came to him with the film and noted the changes in the geography of the film. He admitted that Thalapathy Vijay’s Theri has been used as an adaptation and not a proper remake. 

Well, as a die-hard fan myself, I must say, you’ll notice quite a few changes in the shots and the narrative structure. If you’re expecting a scene-by-scene reenactment of the books, I’m afraid you might be let down because that’s not the film’s intention. Instead, it’s an interpretation – a creative adaptation. We’re not shying away from that fact, but it’s all about breathing new life into these beloved stories.

Varun went on to share his perspective, asserting that the movie provides a contemporary perspective on parenthood while bringing attention to women’s safety concerns in India. He underscored the fact that the film features a plotline, dubbed ‘a major case’, which is loosely based on actual events and that his character has undergone some alterations due to these changes.

In 2016, the Tamil movie titled “Theri,” starring Thalapathy Vijay, was released under the direction of Atlee Kumar. Significant roles were played by Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Amy Jackson, and others.

Regarding the upcoming movie starring Varun Dhawan, affectionately known as Baby John, we have Wamiqa Gabbi, Keerthy Suresh, Jackie Shroff, and Rajpal Yadav playing significant parts. Moreover, the film boasts special appearances by Salman Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Sanya Malhotra, making its exciting journey even more captivating.

Besides just the trailer, Baby John’s tunes such as “Nain Matakka”, “Bandobast”, and “Pikley Pom” are garnering enormous affection from the audience.
